What if the Second Coming came & went,?
...and no one ever realized it? Christians, how do you know it hasn't? How do you know that the second coming of Jesus wasn't locked up and tortured in some horrific, antiquated psychiatric asylum? How do you know he wasn't killed already for trying to speak his mind?
How do you know that God hasn't already taken his, oh, what - 144,000? - and the Rapture is over? What makes you think that someone kind, generous, tolerant, and loving of all would have made it in this world? If I believed in the Bible, I would have thought by now that Jesus was either assassinated, locked up, or lived a very lonely existence amongst his own people.
Perhaps this is the apocalypse, here and now. Perhaps God tried to hold the rapture a very long time ago and nobody showed up? Why end the world now if no one will listen to his son, who preached against bigotry and intolerance and never once mentioned anything being 'wrong' with homosexuals or heathens?
TAL - You want me to say that there ISN'T mass chaos now, that there hasn't always been since the beginning of time? OK, there isn't mass chaos now. Not. Crikey. You're bringing out the teenager in me. I would also look at Australian & Canadian history before you choose them as the non-chaotic countries. The French in Quebec, the Aborigines in the bush - so much terror and prejudice.
DAVID F. - Sorry... I have no idea where you're coming from in regard to Witnesses. Explain?

i don't believe Jesus has come back w/o our knowing because i personally believe that Jesus (or any deity, or great being like Jesus or Buddha or such forth) would have such a charisma about him that he would stick out more than a devout broncos fan in the middle of Oakland.
as for the rapture, i don't believe in it. it's just an example how 1 or 2 minor passages in the bible are exploited & such myths have evolved around them, while simutaniously, leaving out MAJOR passages that are repeated over & over (thus they must have been ment for some form of importance). your point of christ teaching love & peace & respect being pushed to the sideline when it comes to the issue of homosexuality is another example of minor passages being over dramatized.
but i do not think the world will end soon, (again, MY PERSONAL BELIEVES) god still has a few more "tricks up his sleeve", a few more things to say & do before he brings upon the "end of the world" as it were.

God was very specific when he gave over a hundred prophecies in the OT about the first coming of Jesus Christ. They were all literally fulfilled when Jesus came the first time. Therefore I have great confidence in the prophecies regarding his Second Coming.
The Bible tells us that Jesus had to be born in Bethlehem. The name of the town was given hundreds of years before Christ was born. He must also be born of a woman who was a Jew. Mary's genealogy includes Jews. The Bible also says that the Messiah would be pierced (as Jesus was on the cross), and many other prophecies.
The events that must take place when Jesus comes again have not occurred. When Jesus comes again, He will come out of the sky, shining bright so that no one could miss Him. the sky will be dark at the time, so every eye will see Him plainly.
Your question is a good one. It is answered by paying attention to the specific details about the event given in the Bible. We know the Son of God, the Savior of the World, the Judge of the Living and the Dead has come because of the amount of prophecy he perfectly fulfilled. We know Jesus has not come the second time because the events have not unfolded in the way the Bible states.

You're right! (and I am not kidding here) The apocalypse IS here and now.
Apocalypse in Greek (áðïêáëõøéò) means disclosure. It is a term applied to the disclosure of something to certain, privileged persons that is hidden from the masses. John’s original title (in the Bible) is modernly referred to as the Apocalypse of John.
Since Biblical scholars had no clue what was meant in his
metaphorical text, they agreed to name it in the English Bible: the Revelation of St. John the Divine, or the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
The “disclosure” has now been unfolded, and presented throughout the pages of the book cited below. The Apocalypse has already come.
Chapters 19 through 22 describe the events during the Millennial Reign of the One who holds the key to peace, happiness, and eternal truth—the One the world does NOT know, but will recognize as the man called in the English language, Jesus, the Christ.
In Christ’s return to the earth... the whole earth will have knowledge of his arrival, and all will know that the world has been placed in his power. He will universally and recognizably establish his stance (feet) as a “pillar of fire.”
Modern communication technology makes it very easy to understand how one extraterrestrial being might arrive on this planet in one particular location, and at the same time, enable the whole world to tune in to what he says and does.
The Second Coming has NOT happened YET.
You're right about people rejecting one who preached against bigotry and intolerance (including homosexuals and heathens):
When the Jews renamed the City of David, “Jerusalem,” they believed they were literally establishing a foundation of peace. Little did they realize that their prophesied Messiah would one day roam the streets of their great city, preaching the gospel of peace that they would reject.
The Lord’s gospel is a message of love and acceptance. ...No where in His teachings to the Jews... did our Savior teach against homosexuality, but he adamantly commanded us to love our neighbor and our enemies, and refrain from judging one another.
Most of the above quotes come from 2 books, both of which are online at the sites below for free.

Thrice Baked. I LIKE the way you think. Let me pose THIS question to YOU. What if God (Jesus) is here right now? Walking around on the Earth, keeping his identity to himself, playing Diogenes, looking for honest, decent, moral, loving people? What IF the "rapture" is NOT what the Bible portrays? What IF he/she was just wandering around disguised as an ordinary mortal, trying to NOT stand out or preach but merely to observe and participate in WHAT it is truly LIKE to be a human on the Earth? How would anyone even know?
There ARE some who say that he never even LEFT the world. That he is STILL among us, living as a human, meeting us on a one to one basis to SEE what is in our hearts. To see HOW we would treat him. Would YOU welcome him into your home? Give him Food and something to drink? Offer him a place to sleep? Offer him clean clothes and a chance to bathe and clean up a bit? I have heard a few stories from a few people who say that they've actually met him, that he did not want to make a big deal out of himself but that he only wanted to continue on his way, unhindered and unbothered.
Perhaps it's all a bunch of hooey. BUT, what if it's NOT? Why couldn't he be doing exactly as I have described? One never knows one way or the other. That's why everyone needs to treat each other with complete love and respect because you NEVER know exactly WHO it is that you're showing a simple act of loving kindness to.
Some words and thoughts to think about and consider, isn't it?
May I have my cookie now? *grins*

First of all there is an anti-christ and we have elected him to run this country. hehehe Sorry just had to throw that in. Little Christian baiting of my own. Man there sure seems to be alot of that here.
Actually I think the apocalypes, rapture, etc is all a load of fertilizer. If the world goes down the cosmic toilet be it God, global climate change or an astroid broad sides us, hey who cares we will all be dead. I also think those who are really into this apocalyptic stuff are just trying to hedge their bets so they can sin as much as they can and still have time to pray for forgiveness.
Live your life being the best person you can be and you should be good to go.

It is going to be very bloody! And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon had a bow; and there was given unto him a crown: and he came forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, Come. And another horse came forth, a red horse: and to him that sat thereon it was given to take peace from the earth, and that they should slay one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, Come. And I saw, and behold, a black horse; and he that sat thereon had a balance in his hand. And I saw, and behold, a pale horse: and he that sat upon him, his name was Death; and Hades followed with him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth. (Revelation 6:2-5, 8 ASV) and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Matthew 24:30 ASV)

Good point Cookie--
now days when someone claims to be or really believes that they are devine, the nice young men in shiny white coats come and take you away to a happy place. Christians are so anxious for jesus to return, maybe so they can lock him away too....

Woman, if you only knew how right you were. I actually rescued him in 2000 from an asylum, but he wasn't killed, and he was a she! I know of some who showed up for the Rapture, but the Church rejected us anyway. If the world will not listen to his son maybe they will listen to his daughter.
Yes, kind, generous, loving and tolerant is a good description. In this lifetime she is not called Jesus, but I won't reveal her name.
Have you got a warm cookie for me?
