Is it me or do most of the questions here have nothing to do with philosophy?
Davis: I appreciate your comment. And you are quite articulate in naming a central issue -- philosophy is considering the construction of systems of thought, not arguing which system has the better God. Further, philosophy is about making arguments based in reason, not arguments based in emotion. Etc.
RU4REAL?, if that is you real name, I agree with the first part of your post. I understand that people use the philosophy section to post random ideas, and so on. The second part of your question is rather combative and irrelevant.

It's not you, most of the questions here have little to do with philosophy, but I first saw your question just under Arts & Humanities. And DEFINITELY most of those questions had nothing to do with philosophy, unless all things related to Harry Potter are philosophical.
On the "bright" side, I don't think that this forum is restricted to only shallow, thoughtless opinions, as evidenced by others who have answered your question.

Thank YOU!!! I sign on here hoping to be mentally stimulated. however like every other thing on the internet for every question I find of substance I find one asking me to analyze the possible underlying implications of the word "Anger" in the word "Danger" and when I respond asking that person not to post such absolute NONSENSE in the philosophy forum... I get an email from the "thought police" saying I went against their rules and that my answer was removed.
Is it too much to discuss the philosophy of religion NOT the theology? or have people who know the difference?
Can we discuss the problem of evil? Moral relativity?
ANYTHING!!!
Sorry, I am just frustrated like you are. I gave this question a "star" and would give ten if I could. I'll try to throw out some questions as well, but I enjoy the Philosophy ones I do find.
I wish us both luck!!

The people who visit the "Philosophy" section of Q&A are much cooler people than the ones who visit the other sites...
So you get better answers here, even if the questions are not philosophical in nature...
And so I post most of my questions here, despite the fact they are not the right category...(and if anyone has a problem with that...simply don't answer any question you don't like or think appropriate...or challenge me to a debate on philosophical concepts...rest assured...
I would win...

from a strictly academic stand point, I would agree, but from a living and breathing people, philosophy does not end with some esoteric theory of the cosmos. It involves everyday issues from religion, morality and community to law, politics and order. This is practical philosophy.
I find that many of the people in this area seek knowledge and wisdom. by definition, they are today's philosophers.

You are right, but that should neither surprise or upset you. Everyone has there own level, and you have to realize there are only limited people left who can actually write, let alone think for themselves.

Uh-huh...
Define Philosophy.
Mind you, even someone who you may think is crazy has his own philosophy.
The reason why there is so many of us and we are all so unique from each other is so that we can see life in different perspectives.

i think consciousness has a place in the cosmic game, the atoms and universes game, the big game. i can't imagine that it's mindless - there's too much organization, and the organization is too incredible.
