Can a cat sense an acute breathing problem and respond to it?

I have a lovely 2 yr old calico cat. I found her on my porch as a very tiny, young kitten. She stays inside because we live in a rural area and have wild predators behind our house. She is very happy with us but has retained some feral heritage. She does not like to be picked up, held, or even touched unless she initiates the contact, otherwise she is apt to bite and scratch. (Only adults, never children oddly enough). You may think this history is irrevelant but I think it's needed to understand why her actions were so startling. 2 nights ago I was drinking tea watching TV. I swallowed wrong and the tea went down the wrong way. I began choking . It was pretty severe. Then, suddenly, she jumped up on my chest where she began pushing against my chest and rubbing my throat with her head. She did this each time I began coughing . Amazingly, it really seemed to help me get it up. As soon as I was OK, she was gone again. Has anyone else experienced or heard of anything like this?

yes. both cats and dogs seem to be sensitive to these sorts of things. you should feel really honored... this cat truly loves you! cats are funny that way. they can seem aloof (and even mean sometimes!) but their emotions run deep for those they love. they're simply too refined to be gushy and demonstrative about it like a dog :)

there are many stories of animals who save lives. they seem to have a sixth sense with medical issues. there are even service dogs who are trained to work with people who have seizures. they can somehow detect an attack is about to happen a few seconds before it occurs. large dogs can be trained to warn their human, and then lay across their body to brace them in order to help avoid injury.

    it's amazing stuff

Yes actually. Most animals can sense things like this. Whether it's seizures or asthma attacks they are like little doctors. I have asthma and my dog will sit with me when he knows it's going to happen. There is also a cat on the news that sits on the bed at a nursing home when she knows the person is going to die. She's been right 75 out of 75 times. Yup, animals are amazing.

Cats honestly respond to emotional upsets interior the homestead and if your male cat became quite bonded with your boyfriend then he's dissatisfied whilst he's not there. Or your cat could are growing to be disturbing which you too will circulate away him. attempt to reassure him of your love for him. there's a Bach flower essence scientific care, Walnut, which you will probable locate in a wellbeing nutrition shop. you in basic terms shake the bottle properly and placed 3 to 4 drops on the cat's fur between his ears. do this as many situations an afternoon as you are able to (4 in case you are able to handle that). it is going to help him comply with the substitute.

I think maybe our animals are sent to help us! I have a similar story. At a very low point in my life when I was out of work due to a bad back, a beautiful white Persian cat came into my life, almost identical to the one I had as a child. He has been my constant companion and friend since that time. The Lord works in mysterious ways. Thank you for sharing your story.

I've never heard of it in particular, but that seems like animal instinct. They sense when things aren't right - that's why animals go haywire before earthquakes. Lucky you to have such a great cat!

I believe animals are very intune and on a much deeper level that we are. Thee was one on the news last night that lived in a nursing home. He knew when people were going to die. he would get in bed with them. Whenever he got in bed with someone they died shortly thereafter. Amazing huh.
