So they banned smoking from offices, does this mean they are now going to ban laser printers from offices?
My point is that if you actually clicked on the link and read the article it stated :
Office laser printers are as unhealthy as cigarettes, according to an Australian professor, who is now calling for regulations to limit printer emissions.
Office workers who are breathing easy since smoking was banned in public places in the UK can start worrying again, according to research from the Queensland University of Technology's Air Quality and Health Program, led by physics professor Lidia Morawska.
There is more to the article if you had taken the time to click on the link and read it!
I am trying my hardest to stop smoking but only because I have to have a big operation on 13th August. For years we smokers have been treated as if we are social pariah's and have been ostracised on all fronts, and now it appears it was not our nasty noxious fumes causing all the damage after all!
I didn't want to stop smoking, and as daft as it seems I enjoyed smoking.
It seems to me that you really have to enjoy printing at work to keep exposing yourselves to the toxins there!
I soo want to get to level 2 so I can give thumbs up - and down!

A very good question, indeed.
Banning smoking came after years of researches on the hazards of smoke. Let alone, non-smokers find it inconvinient to be with smokers indoors. Besides, smoking - I'm a smoker - is not something, let me say, productive, creative or of any use.
I assure you that intese studies are going to be put into effect to find a substitute for laser printers.
You have touched a wonderful issue.

yea i heard about that too. it worried me cause i work in a print shop and i have four printers in one small office (xerox, brother printer and fax, hp photo printer, hp poster printer). i leave my door open but that just leads to a closed hallway. i cant leave my office cause im the only one here. it sucks. if they banned printers from offices, i would be out of a job.

I havent heard any plans on banning laser printers. I'm not saying it's a bad idea but until there is a cost effective alternative, I tend to doubt it will happen.

I heard that phptocopiers also were bad for your health and you shouldn't be in the same room as them, but the engineer shut me down when he came to service it.
But we don't know and why should we wait till someone dies till we're sure

yep. They are also going to ban meat, roll on deodorant, tampons, travellers, immigrants, pointy things, any sharp corners and great white sharks......It may also become mandatory to only leave the house wrapped in bubble wrap but they haven't confirmed this yet.

Considering the new found evidence that printers are as dangerous, that this is a very interesting question.
