Cat peeing on the couch?

I have a FEMALE 10 mo. old kitten that, as of tonight, has peed on the couch twice now. The first time we were pretty sure she had done it (we have 2 other cats that have NEVER peed in anything but their boxes), but I caught her in the act tonight. Their cat boxes are clean, but she has yet to be fixed (it's time, I know). Any suggestions as to what will make her stop other then putting her in her litter box (which I did) that will make her stop doing this? I've never had a female cat start peeing in places other then her box as a territorial thing, so I'm not sure if it's a matter of having her fixed.

Update:

Hey just one man... though it may only be your opinion, you should probably keep it to yourself. Kill her?? It's just my opinion that you are a f#@!*ing idiot. If you don't own animals, you probably shouldn't and if you do, I only hope that they do not suffer your ignorance. You should keep your smart *** answers to those who are asking smart *** questions. Just my opinion though.

Unaltered female cats will often "spray" or pee much like a unaltered male cat will.

The best way to deal with this is to spay her,and make sure you clean the area very well, using soap and water and also vinegar to deodorize.

Surest remedy though is to get her in to be spayed ASAP,because once a habit is established especially one dealing with cat marking, it is very hard to stop if left undealt with for even a small amount of time.

    Good Luck =)

Make sure you have your couch dry cleaned to remove ANY scent of the urine. Now that she's started, if the smell is still around she'll keep going back there unless you totally get rid of the smell. Have your cat spayed and when you get her home, re-train her to use the litter box as if she was a brand new kitten. People often don't realise that animals need to be frequently re-trained in order to reinforce the training they've already been given. It's like children who are learning to use the toilet, they have to be told repeatedly to tell mommy when they need to go, only eventually children get the idea. Animals need constant reminders. Apply the same idea to your animals.

Yeah this is a tough one. I have two cats now, but have had 13 in the course of my life. The worst part is, now she has gotten used to doin this on that couch. There is a product called Nature's Miracle to clean with that is excellent. BUt I've found that none of the products which are supposed to make them not want to pee in an area work. But really, you should get her fixed asap. That's prob. why she is doing it. You can get it done for cheap at the Humane Society. If it's a money issue, a friend of mine told them she found a cat, and they did it for free for her. good luck!

One of the primary reasons cats pee outside the litter box is because they have a urinary tract infection. Take her to the vet for a check-up and get her spayed at the same time. (Female cats do spray and scent mark if they are unfixed.)
