Is it just me..? (Hunter Safety Test Questions)?

Is it just me or should we cut back on answering what are obviously hunter-safety class students having us do their tests for them?

Random questions here and there, OK. But there is a flood of questions with multiple choice (A, B, C, D) answers in the additional info part of the question. Quite obviously, its a student asking answers for the test.

Examples:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aue43...

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Anhgq...

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ap.B7...

I really don't want this person in the field next to me with a loaded gun or bow if they can't do the test themselves. Honest - I'm all for answering questions, but this test is supposed to make sure the student understands the material and retains it, and can answer extremely simple questions. My 2 cents...take it or leave it

Update:

It is in my opinion, comparable to person A applying for a drivers license, having person B take the test, and person A going up to get their picture taken and license issued. Or akin to person A applying for a CCW permit, their best buddy person B taking the test, and person A getting their CCW.

Safety is of extreme importance, and the point of the course, is to make sure the student understands the information they read, and what the instructor taught. We aren't exactly doing the hunting and shooting community favors by giving away the answers to someone who MAY not understand or grasp the information.

    Just a thought here.

If he cant take the test on his own, do you really thank he will go into woods?

Lack of motivation will keep him at home.

Well fellers we either have another one or he changed his name.

If nothing else he is entertaining.

I agree to a point but I believe that if someone is in legitimate need of some help, or even looking for some insight from someone with more experience than them, by all means they should be asking questions, and we should help them if we can.

Now some of these people do get carried away with the multiple questions they ask. Sometimes I wonder why they dont just post the whole damn test in one question, and hope that we can answer them all for them at once!

Maybe this guys instructor sucks, or doesn't care about what he's teaching, or maybe he can read the book, but wants some real input from real people with real experience. If he's new and hasn't been around hunting, weapons etc... his whole life (like some of us), of course he's going to have some Q's!

We can't teach others that hunting, guns, and firearms aren't as bad as the anti-gunners make them seem, if we arent willing to be patient, and help inform newbies to the fold.

At least they are taking the initiative to get their questions answered, even if it is on Y!Answers.

On the last day before test day, the instructors went over the test and its answers. That way everyone knew what was expected on the test. These people want you to pass! Hunting is a great recreational sport. The DNR is always looking for new hunters and catching the interest in the young. I got a 100% on both the written and the field. My field test just involved identifing the different actions and having to load a gun (with dummy bullets). It should be easy, just look over your stuff.

You notice those questions too DT. I posted a answer similar to your question and others agreed. The questions with A.B.C.D. type answers are right out of the Hunter Safety manual. I know because I teach the class. And most of the states use the same or very similar books. Which is why I posted my answer that said basicly I would not answer any more questions of that type.

And how many of them are there? I've counted four different user IDs?????

    I agree 100%.

Did you read the Yahoo article on students cheating?

My neice, a dedicated nerd college student, is telling me the nerds have a "testing assistance" service. For a hefty fee, they will sit in the dorm, answer text messages and research all the answers for people taking critical tests. Like $250 for starters, up to $500 for finals. Crazy.

I would rather answer the ? than them not know the answer and going hunting anyway. As long as they are posting the answer it is in their mind. Isnt it better to make sure they have the right answer than letting idiots give them the wrong answer? Is failing the test really going to keep them out of the woods? I agree with D58 on the motavation issue but just in case.

I will get bashed for this but it has to be said!

No I will not help them cheat but if asked for information I will answer!

That is why this is called y/answers!

And us older ppl that never had to take hunter safety courses we learned by field knoweldge from a parent, guardian, mentor and some have been well taught and others have not!

I see young ppl that have passed the course and are well educated not by the course but by true teaching and ones that pass the course and act like fools with guns and no true teaching.

So if asked I will gladly guide a young person but will not cheat for them!My father taught me hunting safety not a class!

Also they may want to learn by well season properly taught ppl here by their good knowledge!

I have to agree with Injun on this one. This may be the only place these younger hunters can get help. Still, if it bothers you then don't answer the question. I've ignored most of these types of questions but have answered some. After all, we want them to safe by providing the correct answer.

And yes, it has been happening a bit much.
