Catholic Credit Union?
Does anyone know of any church-affiliated credit unions that do not confine membership to those only that are in the same state of the institution?

Many "field of memberships" for church-based credit unions are written to include people who belong to the church without regard to the state in which they live. You can try this link to find a credit union in your area:
The search tool allows you to put in information about your church so you can look for a credit union that can serve you based on that information.
Good luck.

Credit unions are under their own set of rules. I worked in banking (asst manager) several years ago. At that time, CU's were very limited in membership- you had to belong to a very narrow set of groups in order to join the credit union.
Therein lies the rub.
You need to live within the state where the CU operates in order to be a member of one of those groups. Granted if you live near the border, work in one state and live in the other you could say "what about me?" But that would be the exception.
