Would this have happened if protesters hadn't been in Jena yesterday?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/21/car.nooses/index....

Is anyone really foolish enough to think- Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and their loyal followers can do anything for race relations except for set them back 40 years?

Update:

What these boys did is wrong and mean- but poking hornet's nests usually gets you stung.

Update 2:

Actually if every body took some responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming it on skin color- kids hung nooses- other kids beat them up months after the fact

Those of us that belive in answereing for our actions find it hard to choke up a lot of symapthy for people that defend themselves by saying- well look what they did!

2 wrongs don't ever make a right

Update 3:

What crime would you like them charged with ?

Vandalism?-

sorry but assualt is well a crime everwhere in the country-

you make it 6 on 1 and it sure looks like you are trying to do some serious damage

The nooses were in the tree because of a football game- they were in school colors- http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/7170510?MSNHP...

Update 4:

Steve- I think you are stretching things quite a bit. But then again maybe you speak from your experience. MY kind has no rebel flags, moonshine stills (that is old old old news)- and I never have been a drug user or addict-but odd you know so much.

I have been saying the same thing regarding two wrongs don't make a right so I have to agree with you. The bottom line for me is that even if you take the race issue out of the picture a crime was still committed. An assault occurred - even if the victim of the assault was released from the hospital within hours he still had injuries that warranted a trip to the hospital that he sustained because he was beaten up by 6 other people. I don't think it ever should have been charged as attempted murder but assault charges are in order. As far as this being a result of the nooses being hung- the kid that was beaten up didn't hang them and it was months after that this occurred. Are there racial issues that need to be dealt with - most definitely - that needs to start at home with some responsibility put on the parents to teach their children tolerance and responsibility. These six boys made a decision - whether you agree with what they did or not (I don't and I would feel the same way no matter what the racial make up was) - they themselves made the decison at that point in time and they should have some consequences. If there is a statute that the hanging of the nooses falls under in Louisiana then they should bring charges against the 3 boys who did this also - they made the decision to do it and should be held accountable. However, if there is no statute this can be charged under all you can do is create a new law for the future and hope not to ever have to use it.

I agree with you about Jackson and Sharpton. They appear more racists at times then the people the protest.

This would not have happened if the protesters were not there, I would say that is the only reason why this idiot was doing it in the first place.

The protesters have a right to protest. (Even though I think their cause is stupid) The only reason the person in the truck was arrested is for other violations. I think exciting a riot because of the noose on the truck would be weak, and probably wouldn't even be filed. But when you do it when your drunk, carrying a weapon (may or may not be legal), and have brass knuckles, your going to jail.

I think the whole Jena 6 thing is absolutely stupid! I hope they all go to jail. I would like to see all of the people down there protesting some white kids going to jail for beating a black kid.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are two of the biggest racists I have seen in awhile, and they only hurt all black people because the only thing they know what to do is pull the race card.

Racial issues just bring out the best in people. There are nut cases on both sides of the racial divide.

As far as the Right Reverend Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton they have made a fortune off the race card. They certainly do not want racial peace because that would end their meal ticket.

Since you brought up race relations, in the trial between Isiah Thomas/MSG and a fired black female co-worker, Isiah said he should be given more leniency than a white man when calling a woman a 'b*tch.' I am starting to love this whole black cultural thing. I mean it is not their fault they love dog fighting or calling a woman (especially a black one) a b*tch or a ho. I guess black people are not responsible for anything especially their own stupidity in these situations.

You know what would have prevented it all? If all them children of Klansman/racist crackers/white trash kids didn't beat up the black kids and hang nooses from the schoolyard tree they politely asked to sit under. Yet you southerners still wonder why the rest of our great nation looks down on your region like some kind of laughingstock. Were all these black HS kids supposed to grin and bear it when some no-class white HS kids hung nooses from that tree? Sorry madame, youre only acting butt-hurt because Jena got a lot of bad press for acting like a bunch of racist bastards and besides, if that kid was beaten sooo severely to attain attempted murder charges at the Jena 6, then how in the hell did he attend a afterschool event that same day, AFTER the beating?

    ---

EDIT: Yeah, but they weren't given criminal charges! For if you are a honky in the south, you are that much nearer to God, isn't that how it goes?

Oh come on, your kind is the ones still butthurt 130 years later after losing a war where you tried to ditch the rest of us so you could keep black people out in your cotton plantations working for nothing. You fly the Dixie flag even though it was the emblem of your fake-assed illegitimate nation, you people founded the Klan, you can't even drink store bought alcohol, you have to make your own in the woods and if you make it wrong it can make you go blind, and if you run out of moonshine you just bang some Oxycontin in your arm, they don't call it "Hillbilly heroin" for nothing. Now who's looking silly?

Democrats will do that with their blessing and they still wont get it right.

In discussions of racial equality, at the point where everyone agrees that all races are created equal, all further discussions should cease.

    It's that simple.

Edit: The charges for the Jena Six may have been out of control, but so is the way it is being handled by those not involved. A simple appeal might have been enough rather than the unattractive behavior of those carrying on about it.

I'm not too sure which part you're referring to have "happened." Are you referring to the arrest, or the act itself?

With a terribly heavy heart, I have to say that regardless of the current Jena 6 isssue, I'm completely confident that some inane individual would have driven around with nooses hanging from the back of a pick-up truck, eventually.

I'm scared to think, though, that without the Jena 6 issue right now, this teen would never have been arrested. :(

Actually it would have happened.... if you have been following the story... it already happened... racial tension has been incredibly high there since some white students hung nooses from a tree at the school.

Pardon if Messrs Sharpton and Jackson offend your white bread sensibility, but the fact of the matter is, things are not all rosy for black people in this country. Institutional racism is pandemic.

The whole situation down there is ridiculous. Why were these juveniles being prosecuted as adults for attempted murder when it was clearly aggravated assault? One simple reason.. because they are black.

Black men typically receive much harsher penalties for crimes than their white counterparts. And I'm talking the same crimes here.

Perhaps the only thing setting back race relations forty years are ignorant folks like yourself that seem to think the status quo works for everyone.

Nitwits wanting attention and getting jail time for their troubles. Cool.

As for the Reverends, has anyone heard if they ever apologized to the Duke Lacrosse players? "free the Jena 6" is so stupid they have lost all credibility and are now becoming hatemongers.

Al "bigot" Sharpton and Jesse James Jackson could really care less about really helping anyone, all they want to do is to try and increase racism in this country and they are doing one heck of a job of it!!!!

We have a right to protest. We do not have the right to discriminate against one another. Would this have happened if the protesters weren't there? Who knows, but this person would have done something else, to someone else, if this opportunity hadn't come along for him to act like a rascist.
