i don't have a desktop any longer, my old one i had for about 5 years but he died in a terrible accident involving me, him and a rather large atlas (geography is a dangerous subject!).

I now have a laptop and he celebrated his 2nd birthday in September, so far he has been a very healthy little laptop with no major illnesses, just the usual annoying childish behaviour you get with all computers

Got rid of two old pcs ( duron 950mhz and a p3 866mhz ) of mine this year and upgraded to two pc's ( one brand new another with new and used parts )

    Athlon x2 4600+

    and

    E2140

Through some wheels and deals, they have costed me 400 so far. If I got a rebate back then it will be 300 for both PC's upgrades. Not the fastest setup but they didn't cost me too much either.

My low power rig for internet/downloading is a P3-500 (Katmai, slot 1) w/ 3x128mb sdram, wifi capable. Definitely more than 5 years old. It is fully operational but currently on standby/back up status in my PC shack.

3 years old - I ripped everything out except the motherboard, upgraded the old grey box and it's running Vista now. It frightens me how quickly it starts up from a cold boot and resuming from standby is utterly amazing.

3 year old eMachine. I'm thinking about upgrading, but the fact is, it does everything I actually need it to, it just struggles with the graphics of the latest games, so I can't really justify the expense!

6 months. Just a p4 3.2 w/2gb ram, but does the trick with a decent video card.
