Update 3:

Hi there...here in the Pacific Northwest (as you know being a Seattle resident yourself) the Eagles have been known to capture cats as well as the coyotes.

[edit] the Ballard Locks area you'll see quite a few Eagles nest so they are commonly seen around the city too as you've noted.

Coyotes are residing all over the city of Seattle area as well. Here's a website called NWCoyote Tracker for urban and suburban coyote sightings: http://nwcoyotetracker.googlepages.com/

    Yes we do.

The kittens are our pets and we treat them as such. They stay in the house or within our yard only. They do not get to wonder the small town we live in to be eaten by the coyotes, owls, eagles in the day time, run over by cars or anything else.

It was the wild critters back yard before it became ours, and when we are gone it is going to go back to these wild critters back yards, if that is there are any more left after us humans get done killing all of them.

I live in IA. No problem with eagles here that I know of, or coyotes. Racoons are pests. I keep my cats inside so predators aren't a problem.

  • Cats in the UK don't know how lucky they are. (No rabies or native predators to worry about).

Obviously North America has many more species of wildlife than much of Europe. I was aware that coyotes and larger birds of prey would attack cats, but I didn't know that racoons did too.

Really interesting question - thanks for posting it.

No, but I have lived in a place in the past (Northern Arizona) where owls (in addition to the coyotes) were a menace to our cats.

When I lived in the country in Saskatchewan the owls would attack my cats, I actually witnessed one swoop down at my biggest cat(dumb owl) never heard of eagles attacking cats though

  • No I dont, there are no Eagles where I live, Cats are a nusance to wildlife tho ;) They kill birds and small mammals all the time. Who cares if Eagles mennace cats, its the Eagles who are native, Dont you like your natives? The domesticated cat is hardly on the edge hunting for survival, more thought for WildLife please. Our cats are A curse for wildlife, i have 2.

Well this sounds like the best solution to erradicating cats I've ever heard. Cats desimate native birds and animals so its good thing to hear that they are getting their's back at times.

Cats must be delicious to raccoons and eagles in your area.

You must be having Chinese or Persian cats.
