How are we saved?
I would like to know what everyone thinks we have to do to attain salvation with God.
Thanks for all the answers so far. I'm interested in anymore ideas people have. My personal belief is that without Christ's atonement and His grace we cannot be saved. I believe that this grace will raise us all from the grave when we are resurrected regardless of our works. In this way we all receive it; however, I believe that in order to attain the full glory and the fullness of God's plan for us we have to put forth works too. This makes simple sense; otherwise there would be no commandments for us to follow.
Those who have answered that we are saved through grace after we repent, I whole heartedly agree. I believe this is a lifelong process and that we can repent of something every day of our lives as we strive to become more and more like Christ. However, in the end we will fall short, because we are imperfect. Aside from the grace Christ shows us by allowing us to sincerely repent throughout our lives, I believe it is at the end when we still fall short that He shows his full grace. However, I think he will award His grace which is capable of saving everyone, based on how we endured and lived our lives. I believe that this is an individual process where Christ will be our fair judge, because He has suffered for not only our sins, but our afflictions, and our temptations and our illnesses, so He will know what it was like to be in our shoes. Thus He will judge us fairly according to our works and save us by His grace.

Repent, come unto Jesus, and accept His grace. People think that Mormons believe in salvation by works, but that isn't true. We believe that it is necessary to repent and to try not to sin.
[Edit] After all, Satan believes in Jesus. Satan knows Jesus exists.
[Edit] Satan doesn't come unto Jesus, doesn't repent, and makes every effort to sin. What better way to show our commitment in following Christ than to follow His commandments?

The scripture tells us that we are to repent, confess Jesus is Lord, and be baptized in the name of Jesus. A lot of folks forget that baptism is very much a part of salvation, yet if we study the scripture, we find over and over that believers were baptized as part of their salvation experience.
Some scriptures that might help you are:
Acts. 2:36-41 Acts 16:30-34
Acts. 8:9-13 Acts 18:7-8
Acts 8:35-39 Acts 19:1-5
Acts 9:17-18 Acts 22:12-16
Acts. 10:44-48
Acts 16:14-15
Every one of these verses includes the act of baptism. You will find that most believers will tell you to repent and believe in Jesus, but most of them have been taught that baptism is "optional". Apparently the early disciples didn't think so.

God's Remedy...The Cross
Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem. He is the only one who can bring us back to God. He died on the Cross and rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin and bridging the gap between God and people.
The Bible says: There is only one God, and Christ Jesus is the only one who can bring us to God (1 Timothy 2:5).
Christ died once for our sins. An innocent person died for those who are guilty. Christ did this to bring you to God (1 Peter 3:18).
But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful (Romans 5:8).
God has provided the only way -- we must make the choice.
Our Response...Give Ourselves to Christ
We must trust Jesus Christ to forgive our sins and determine to obey Him for the rest of our lives. That way we can know God and find peace again.
The Bible says: So you will be saved, if you honestly say, Jesus is Lord, and if you believe with all your heart that God raised Him from death. God will accept you and save you, if you truly believe this. (Romans 10:9-10)
Is there any good reason why you cannot turn your life over to Jesus Christ right now?
How to give your life to Christ:
1. Admit you are a sinner and need forgiveness.
2. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
3. Through prayer, confess that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and commit to live for Him for the rest of your life.
What to Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to give me life. I know You are the only way to God so now I want to quit disobeying You and start living for You. Please forgive me, change my life and show me how to know You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Unfortunately not many people are going to like to hear this but I'll tell you the truth. Those that have become saved had been elected and predestinated to salvation from before the beginning of this world. Please see Romans 9 and Ephesians 1
There is nothing we can do for salvation, it is a gift given by God. If there was something that we can do to attain salvation then Christ died for nothing.
But the hope is that if we desire to become saved and we desire to put our trust in Jesus Christ, it means that most likely God is drawing us to Himself and it probably means that we are one of God's elect. If we were not chosen by God in we would never desire to become a child of God and would reject Christ until the day we die.

Ask God for forgiveness with a sincerely repentant heart, believing that Jesus died for you and God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. Then you would have a desire to turn away from things that God does not approve of, and try to live a life showing love to your fellow man.
Being baptised is not a requirement for salvation, but it is nice to do it to follow Jesus' example.

We are saved by the grace of God alone. To be saved you must accept Jesus's gift by confessing and repenting of our sins. Then to remain saved you must be baptized and mortify sin not justify it. We can not condone sin at all.
baptism is something we do because we are Christian's. It washes away the old sins and gives us a clean slate.

I KNOW, that we are saved by grace thru faith, that not of ourselves, lest any man should boast,(Galations) because i grew up in a works religion church. & all i got was sin.
once I accepted Christ into my heart & repented of my sins, then i was able to do that which was right. & my works do follow, & now , i know just how lost i was trying so hard to be saved by works!
Now , by my works you can tell, i am saved.
Source(s): "Ye shall know themby their fruit'', too many verses say that to be saved you trust Christ & nothing less & nothing MOre! i've tried it, it dont work. 'for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13, you can take that to the bank. - judy_derr38565Lv 61 decade ago
By grace thru faith and not of our own work.
Know that you are a sinner, ask for forgiveness and invite Christ into your live, study the word and let God do the rest.
Read Psalm 51 for a good sinners prayer, that is where the basic sinners prayer come from.

Jesus Himself said it:
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. (John 3)
By doing this you are setting up a practice of trusting God. That's how you are saved, and that's how you live the rest of your life. By trusting God.

Repent of sins, believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and that he is the son of God. Receive the GIFT of eternal life.
