Do you believe that Emotion is the enemy of Reason?

Emotions cloud judgement and often are the root cause of violence. Do you think that the elimination of emotions could lead to a more peaceful humanity?

not necessarily the enemy, but certainly an obstacle.

emotion and reason provide polarity; ideally one reaches a balance. Reason without emotion may sound appealing, but could get rather boring, too - emotion can spark a motive to change, to reexamine, to strengthen reason itself, rather than settle into complacency and stagnation.

Someday in life you'll understand, everything in life thats genuine is all about emotions. Humans are different from robots. We do have emotions, thats how we actually feel peaceful.

Every human is born as a vulnerable, sensitive and innocent creature. For example, did you ever see babies playing tough? no? lol. But I can say the world is circularly ****** up. As we grow, we got hurt, that's why we build certain patterns in our lives to protect ourselves. Most people refer it to emotionless life. But let me tell you we only use at maximum 10% of our brain, the rest of our behavior comes from our subconscious mind. It's perfectly impossible for humans to be emotionless. Most people will try to be very logical as their defense mechanism and said I'm not emotional. That's a lie, tell them to really look deep inside, they do have emotions, they just won't admit it. It take lots of courage to deal with those emotions, it's a matter of taking a risk.

Emotions caused violences, but is it true we will FEEL peaceful in a world without FEELINGS? Emotionless is inhuman.

In the society, we do have to protect ourselves by holding our emotions back, that's how etiquette and moral are formed. It is good in a way, so we got less actual fights in the society. However, we tend to forget about the flexibility. I mean there are times we have to be vulnerable. Otherwise, we would not be able to receive true love and happiness. Some people will say this is naive. It's not. Naive is doing something without knowing what it's for. Emotions make us grow up as a human. When somebody decided to isolate their emotions off from the world, it's death for their growth. Being old is only natural but to grow, its a decision.

There is no point of life when emotions does not exist. It's a dead world. Peace would never exist in such world in the first place. Ah this phrase suddenly come up in my mind.

Emotionless itself is emotion. It is the hatred for emotion and hatred is a form of emotion. Hope that helps.

Balance is a better option. Logic has its place as does emotion. I am an emotional being because I am a woman. Men are taught to supress their emotional natures which makes them less able to cope and violence often emerges, being one of the 'allowed' responses for a warrior. Mothers actually train their sons in this manner while daughters are trained to be nurturers. We create what we are conditioned to accept.

Absolutely. Emotion is dangerous, not just in violence and war, but in all aspects. Emotions can destroy relationships, make you vulnerable and weak, cloud your judgment, make you question yourself and your decisions, seek validity from others, become overly reliant on others and less self-reliant, lead to depression, drinking, feelings of worthlessness and suicide, just to name a few. I've been on those emotional roller coasters (not to those extremes but I have witnessed it). Emotions are a hindrance and one must extricate himself from them to become truly successful and accomplished. That's not to say that you have to become a robot. You can still enjoy life and have meaningful relationships, but too much emotion can destroy everything. I'm 25, and I am GLAD I learned this lesson early in life. You must always look out for yourself and your family #1, without question or exception. That's just the way of the world.

The soul additionally partakes of volition, meaning the reasoning college expands with regards to the increasing quantity of judgements of an merchandise's fee. observe that "merchandise" is an impoverished term for what has been below scrutiny for hundreds of years by skill of sages, none of whom have been waiting to truly make sparkling to others what they might comprehend completely. the project of language coexists with the project of identifying on "the greater advantageous over the greater serious" path of action only as a man or woman's solitary strategies/thoughts coexist with the minimum standards of social order, ius naturale. while a man or woman meets the "minimum requirement", ie., is familiar with the prefer (this no longer same to easily following instructions) to subjugate chaotic impulses, the reasoning college turns into the reason it till now sought to comprehend. no longer by the style, that's the place the version between human and animal nature could be got here across. man or woman human beings might attain a state of Being previous the meant unintelligible beginning place of a command, yet no longer in the past first passing in the path of the intelligible nature of an (animal) impulse.

true.. but emotion can also be reason's friend..

a world devoid of emotion will most likely lead to a cold, cruel and lifeless humanity, because sometimes it is the lack of emotion that is the root cause of violence..

Although it is easy to think of examples when the two conflict, I wouldn't say they are polar opposites.

If you had Reason without emotion, then what would motivate you to do anything including behave rationally?

I think the reason we view the two as enemies is because when we think of emotions we always think of the most extreme ones.

Your right on so many levels, but emotions are here to stay, it is what makes us human, without emotions this would be one dull planet, no love, no companionship, mindless drones. Peace is something we can only have in our own little bubbles of life, we will never see it on a mass scale.......sad but true!

A certain degree of objectivity is needed of course. But there is no such thing as pure objectivity. Reason is just a tool. It does not tell us what to do. It only tells us how to do it. But there is nothing rational with our preference of one ideal over another. It is a different part of us that guides us as to what is good and evil.
