Where does a woman recently widowed after 54 yrs of marriage meet other woman just to go places?
I am old, lonely, but cheerful about the future, but cannot go everywhere alone. Other women in my area of Pa. must have this dilemma, also.

Try a scrapbooking club. Post an ad on craigslist? Make sure you specify that you are looking for friends in the area. Good luck.

I got involved with a group at church. We do things together once in a while. If you can afford it, take a trip to Europe with a touring company like GoVacations. I went by myself to Holland last year, and met some great ladies. We still send Christmas cards.
Another idea is to figure out what you like doing - scrap booking, movies, book club, and then look in the local newspaper for those groups. Don't despair if it takes a few tries until you meet a group you "fit" with, just keep at it and you'll probably find yourself with lots of nice friends.

I would take up a hobby that has always interested you. Join a book club, take a dance class... You will likely meet women with similar interests and develop friendships from there.
