I had one six months ago.

#1: I'm afraid of needles and when I read to stick a needle in my foot to dig it out, I was not very thrilled.

First off you can try taping a piece of bacon or a potato slice over where the splinter is before you go to bed and leave it taped on over night. For some people the splinter comes right out the next morning, unfortunately it did not for me because mine was in so deep.

I left mine alone for 5 days because I knew it was in deep and needed to fester and work its way out naturally. I then used a needle to peel/dig where it had festered (it did not hurt and I could not feel a thing, that's the great thing about dead skin). I then tried to milk the splinter out with my fingers, but I had no luck. I took a half hour Epsom salt bath and tried to work the splinter out underwater, I saw blood gushing out of my foot, but no pain, I looked at the bottom of my foot and saw the splinter, so got a tweezers and that was history.

It did hurt to walk on it while I had it, but I could manage the pain. I went to work where I am on my feet 75% of the time.

If you are in great pain a doctor will get it out for you, but if you give it time, the splinter will work itself out naturally to where you can do it yourself.

Try to "milk" out the splinter by gently squeezing your fingertips on each side of it and if that doesnt work then try to clean a needle, a pair of tweezers and a small pair of nail clippers with isopropyl alcohol and let it air-dry. Be sure to swab the pinching surfaces of the tweezers and the cutting edges of the nail clippersWith the tip of the needle, make a small hole in the skin above the splinter. Once you have access to the splinter, gently try to squeeze it through the hole. If necessary, increase the size of the hole with the needle. Use your tweezers to pull out the splinter as soon as you can get hold of it. Hopefully this works... I had a brutal splinter this summer that I tried everything to get it out.. but no avial. Eventually it worked itself out. Good luck.

As painfull as this sounds, after you soak it, you have to put a clean needly right next to it, to open the skin up a little more, so you can get the splinter out. If not, then you need to go see a doctor, or just leave it in which probably isnt the best idea. Hope this helped.

Take a needle or tweezers, burn the tips to sterilize it, rub with alcohol and try to get splinter out. Good luck!
