Why is my cat puking every other day?
Hello. My black cat Zooey is 6 years old. two months ago I took him to the vet because he kept running to the litterbox to urinate way more than normal. Vet told me he had a bladder infection and crystals in the bladder. Zooey was on antibiotics and he's on special food(Royal Canin,prescription food). Well about 3 weeks ago he started puking. He'll be fine for 2 or 3 days and then early in the morning or late at night he'll vomit everywhere. Zooey's not constantly puking, just every couple days. Sometimes he throws up hair, sometimes he throws up food. If this keeps up I'll call the vet soon, but I thought I could use some feedback from other cat owners. I'm worried It could be something serious. Cats are so hard to understand.
He's been on his prescription food since the end of september, but I will try giving him smaller portions. As far as I know he's still pooping( I scoop the box daily) so I geuss that's a good sign

I know how much your vet bill was for crystals because we've been though that with my furbaby, so I know after all that you wouldn't feed your cat any food, meant for cats or otherwise, without running it by your vet first, you don't want to put yourself or your cat through the crystal-passing again.
When my furbaby was already on the right food but was throwing up, it turned out to be a liver infection. Not life-threatening, and not saying that's your situation, but my furbaby was clearly miserable. We had a blood test to find the infection, antibiotics for about 2 weeks, and no throwing up food since then.

Throwing up hair is ok--it's how they get it out and I woulnd't worry about those.
Throwing up just the food, that's what needs to be watched. Cut the portions down and feed him several times, with smaller portions, and see if that helps. Some cats gulp too much dry food, it puffs up in their stomach before being digested and they feel nauseous and barf it all up.
You can call your vet and describe what happens, and ask if you should give him a quarter tablet of Pepcid (that's safe for cats) once a day, to try to help. But keep a record for a week as to how many times it's just the food only (no hair) and then consult with your vet.

My cat had the same thing happen to her. Did you slowly switch his food over or do it all at once? You want to slowly mix it in with his regular food so he can get use to it. That could be why he is vomiting. It could also be a reaction from the antibiotics. I would take him to the vet just to be sure.

My cats eat only canned meat and a raw diet I prepare for them. They NEVER throw up - neither hairballs or their food.
Get some good canned meat like Wellness, Natural Balance (use the chicken and chicken liver), Avoderm (not the fish) and try that with your cat for a month.

That happens to my cat, but my cat is not on meds. It is certain foods that are too rich or do not settle in there stomach well. Also, the meds might be upsetting the cats stomach too.

He really should go back to the vet. Make sure your vet is extremely knowledgeable and caring. That baby may be suffering and cannot tell you.
