What companies make beer without hops?
I think hops taste DISGUSTING.
There used to be all sorts of ales made with all kinds of tasty things, now it's just hops... hops hops hops...
It seems that most beer drinkers do not drink it for the flavour -- otherwise they'd be drinking the non-alcoholic ones too, just for the taste when, say, at work etc.
So, are there any beers that actually TASTE good?
I.E. beer not for getting drunk, but for actual flavour?
You know, something that you would try when you were a kid and say, "Mmmm, this is yummy!" I tried my dad's beer when I was a kid, and yuck -- it was gross. He kept drinking it, and so did others. Hm, maybe I'll try it again... nope still gross. Year after year I'd think, maybe I was wrong, and take a sip.... nope, still gross.
Enlighten me with some yummy tasting beer.

First off I do drink it for taste and though I don't agree with you about hops I will suggest some low or no hops flavored drinks.
If you aren't too keen on the taste of hops try wheat beers or Belgium style beers. Heffeweisen, lambic, trippel or dubbel. These and others like them tend to be so lightly hopped that you won't notice. Stay away from anything made by Stone.
Examples:
Lindeman's Kreik or Pomme Lambic
Hoegaarden
Oberon
Ommegang's Witte or Hennepin
Chimay Red, Blue or White
St Bernardus abt 6, abt 8 or abt 12
Samuel Adam's Cranberry Lambic
Ephemere - Apple
Now, if you are open minded and want to try some beers that not only have hops but taste wonderful, try a Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA.

Well first off your statement of "There used to be all sorts of ales made with all kinds of tasty things, now it's just hops... hops hops hops..." simply isn't true.
What is true is that many beer makers have gone the way of the hop. But there are still MANY brews out there that contain very little hop flavor.
Odds are that even these beers that are brewed from wheat or in some cases fruit you will not like either.
What your looking for is a beer that tastes like candy and as far as I know there is no beer on the market that tastes like that.
Look for beers that have a more malty character to them. Or like I mentioned before wheat or fruit beers. For instance, Magic Hat # 9, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat or Widmers Hefeweizen.

Well according to ancient german law it is actually illegal to produce beer without the usage of hops.
The usage of hops in beer have been around for centuries. However just recently due to the craft brew industury that have become a new fad. Where breweries keep trying to outdo each other with the hops tasts.
If you want a beer with very low hop flavor try a Heffiwizen. There is one brewery call Widmier and they make a very excelent version.
another thing you can do is look for the beer rating websites and search out beers. You are going want beers with a low IBU. The lower the IBU then the less amount of hops flavor are in the beer

I like the taste of hops, but I have been reading a ton lately of how Hops turns testosterone into Estrogen. Like I need man boobs. Anyways, before the 1500's beer was made with other ingredients, it was the catholic church and the german purity act that forced the use of hops. I am interested in non hops beers. Hard to find in Calgary. Wish breweries would advertise this.

Hops are used to preserve the beer and to counterbalance the taste of the malt. The only beer that I know of without hops is spruce beer (preferably well-aged). If you want a beer without overpowering hop flavor, try a wheat beer (like hefeweisen) or a bock. Eventually, you might work your way up to a barleywine, heavily hopped but balanced by a LOT of malt.

I think beer is an aquired taste. The first beer I liked was Tequiza. It has Agave and lime in it, its kind of fragrant. It tastes sooo good. But itwas hard to find so i started drinking Corononas with lime and salt. Not as tasty but still pretty good. Then I went to a brewery. They had this beer sampler like 4 or 5 small glasses of beers. They were from dark brown to reddish color to blonde. I really fell in love with the reddish one. Some kind of lager i think. Anyway after that a few weeks later I tried to drink a corona and it tased exactly like perrier/club soda. It was so wierd how tasteless Corona is to me now, very watery. But try Tequiza you might llove it

Look for beer in clear bottles (Corona, Miller High Life, etc.). Sunlight skunks hops, which is why hopped beer is bottled in brown or green (not as good) bottles. A clear bottle obviously lets in lots of UV rays, so obviously the company hasn't used much hops or they would be worried about the skunking.

Very interesting thread, thanks folks. I read that at the end of Prohibition here in the US, the Catholic Church (teamed up the Suffragettes), insisted hops be added to common beer. The estrogen-causing factor from hops would help stymie those drunken horny men from raping and pillaging ;-)
Testo and Estro need to be in perfect balance in both men and women, BTW.
