If the NFL had the BCS system!?

If the NFL had what Div 1A football has, the BSC system, Dallas and New England would be playing for the Super Bowl. No questions asked. Of course the Pats are undefeated, so they would be ranked #1 and Dallas and Green Bay had the same record(13-3), but Dallas won in a head to head tie breaker.

So in the BCS Super Bowl, we have New England and Dallas.

How well would this go over in the NFL? Not so good, huh? Then why in God's Green Earth can we sit back and let it happen in Div 1A football? The college sport that makes the most money is the only sport that isn't decided on the field with a playoff system! While Div 1AA and AAA have a playoff system, Div 1A doesn't?

Update:

We saw some good games and we saw some bad games. We even saw a few great ones. What we didn't see was anything that in any way led up to the national championship game. Everything that happened before the NC game had nothing to do with the NC game. And that is what is inherently wrong with the entire premise of the BCS system. It attempts to give us a great championship game instead of giving us a great championship postseason. By predetermining the two "most deserving" teams to play in the BCS championship game they have minimalized every other nearly-as-deserving team that plays in the other bowls especially the BCS bowls. And that's exactly what it is about preserving the integrity of the regular season ignores the fact that they have, to a great extent, destroyed the integrity of the postseason.

Don't get me wrong, I love college football, but I'm still not convinced without a shadow of a doubt that LSU is the best college football team in the country. Are you?

Update 2:

I knew I would get a few NFL fans that would be repulsed by the thought, but I didn't think I would get an overwhelmingly one sided opinion!

Thanks guys! and "girl"

I don't understand why the NCAA is sitting back and letting this go on as long as they have.

Thank you for bringing this up. Another reason why Division I-A needs to have a playoff format in place. That would be horrible to see the NFL have a BCS-like system. I would have to agree with Ashley R in that I would definitely stop being a football fan. I hope the NCAA establishes a 16-team playoff consisting of the eleven conference champions (yes including the lowly Sun Belt champs) and five at-large berths soon and abolish all bowl games most of which are meaningless anyway.

You are right on the mark with that!!!! Seems like you took my answer to one of your other questions and turned it into a question. I was also going to ask a similar question. I for one would not be an NFL fan, and believe me when I tell you I am a HUGE NFL FAN!!!! If the NFL used the same type of system I don't think that anyone would be much of a fan. Also, if they used that system, there would not have been some of the great super bowl champions that we have had in the past. And Jacksonville would not have their chance, like they are going to have this weekend, to knock the Pats out. Just because a team does good in the regular season, that does not automatically make them the best team in the league or country. I am a LSU fan, so I am very happy that we are national champs, but college football does so desperately need a playoff system. If you look at last year in college football, LSU was the hot team at years end, but had to settle for the sugar bowl, this year it was Georgia, with a playoff system it guarantee a true champion. I am going to throw this in just for good measure, the Pats will lose to the Jags this weekend, the Jags are the hot team right now. Super bowl - Dallas and Jacksonville. Thank god that the NFL has a playoff and not some kind of BCS system.

BCS stands for - BULL and COW **** system!!!!!

Ok there is no Division 1AAA that I have ever heard of. It is Division 1AA(FCS) and then Division 2 and Division 3. I agree that the FBS division or BCS needs fixed. They need a playoff system. On the other hand a few years back my Steelers would have been in the Superbowl when they went 15-1(as oppose to going the next year). I have to admit that Pittsburgh and Jacksonville would have been a great Bowl game, but since they had just played that game wouldn't have happened. In a NFL BCS Jacksonville would have been playing the Chargers or an NFC team(depends on if they play AFC vs AFC or AFC vs NFC).

Do you really think that it would hurt the NFL if they honestly switched to that crazy of a system? I don't think it would. I think fans would do JUST LIKE THEY DO IN COLLEGE. They grumble, but they don't stop supporting the companies and they don't stop watching the game. Has anyone started boycotting Tostitos? What about the other sponsors of BCS games?

PS Playoff teams beat by the Top seeds

New England-Colts(#2 seed), San Diego(#3 seed) and Pittsburgh(#4 seed).

Cowboys- Green Bay(#2 seed), New York(#5 seed) and split with Washington(#6 seed).

I don't think any of the other teams beat 3 playoff teams.

You can not say this doesn't go well in the NFL until the playoffs are over,it might land up New England against Dallas in the championship game, which would make it the right decision

No you would have a legion of Packers fans claiming they should be in. You would have the Colts fans claiming they are the best easily. The Dallas fans would also be claiming to be deserving.

Whoever made it in would say of course they are the best and a playoff proves nothing.

If the NFL had a pathetic system like college, it wouldnt be half as popular as it is.

Actually it would probably be Colts vs Pats anyway...

Lol, i wouldnt even watch NFL if they did bowl games

if they had the same stupid system, conference would not matter, so it would be New England vs Indianapolis, not Dallas or Green Bay.
