Will the Sharks, Wild, Canucks or Stars win the West?
What makes this years Sharks, Wild, Stars, or Canuck teams any different than teams that have fallen short in recent playoff past?bI'm sure a ton of fans think "this is the year", but I'm interested to know why.
I don't think anyone has given a compelling reason why any of these teams will fair better this year. The Sharks, Wild, Canucks, and Stars are obviously not the favorites (Detroit and Anaheim)... I was just hoping someone could tell me why but it seems the concensus has it that none of these teams will go very far.

Don't care about the other teams listed but the Wild won't go far playing the style of hockey they've been playing lately! They just never seem to get a clear shot & they spend too much time mucking along the boards and not making things happen! Teams win by making plays, not waiting for them!

Canucks just won 4 in a row, including a 4-1 drubbing of an albeit beat up Detroit team. Detroit has looked unconvincing lately even without injuries, Minny has been sluggish lately, San Jose looks alright, but Vancouver is getting all its top players back from injury right at a time when they're playing their best hockey. Still, I don't see Vancouver getting out of the West unless they can avoid a nasty 1st round series like last year's against Dallas. All things considered, I'm probably going to say the Stars will win the West, but I'm not counting out Luongo and the Canucks just yet.
**below** we don't have the exact same team. We have players who are more battle tested, and some players that are better than last year. We also have a few minor pieces added to the mix, and by the way, last year the Canucks could have gone all the way but for coughing up a 2-0 lead against anaheim in game 4, and a silly overtime game in game 5. We weren't that far off.

If you were to ask my homer opinion? I would say Sharks go all the way beating Vancouver in the conference finals.
In my realistic opinion, I have seen some bad stuff out of the Sharks as of late and I think the Stars will have the best chance.
Detroit will have tons of trouble going anywhere. Their young players ahve all been healthy, and look what it has got them in the last 10 games. Detroit is too close to the nursing home to be able to grind it that far. If this were a strike season, maybe the Wings could do it. I think the gas ran out and they will have trouble getting a big enough second win to pass the strong and tough teams in the west.
If it ends up being that the Ducks and the Starts make it to the Conf Finals, I will root for any east coast team. Even the... Hurricanes...

For the Canucks fans, they have the exact same team thay had last year (when they lost). Why would you expect that to change ? They might not even make the Playoffs.
They lack the offense for a Stanley Cup win. Same for the Sharks.
I'd have to go with Dallas as being the most likely candidate of those you listed.

even though nobody thinks soo i think the canucks are gonna make it to the finals sure they dont play an offensve style of hockey but it still works. Anaheim and detroit are both going out in the first round
CANUCKS ALL THE WAY

The Stars are doing fantastic right now...looking really hot. They've won 10 of their past 12 games and have a lot of their strongest players on the ice every game.

no, the red wings will win the west in the season because they are always the top 3 teams in points every season. in the playoffs i believe the ducks will go to the final again. im really sure the canucks will not make the west final cause they cant score. its like geeky ugly guy who uses a retainer on prom night. he cant score either just like the canucks

No, I dont believe so. I think Detroit is once again the team to beat. They are having a few injury problems right now, but when everyone gets healthy, I think everyone in the West should look out, unless they choke in the first Round again.

detroit is still the best team in the west. they should really think about moving detroit to the east. but im hoping for my sharks to come out on top. they have the talent, just not the mental toughness.
