What can I use to clean the inside of a windshield that leaves no residue?
I have tried a lot of glass cleaners and have used micro fiber cloths. Does anything work good?

I'm assuming you have a bad smear build up-it's especially bad in Honda's and Toyotas. I've been told it's from the gases that come from the dashboard material when the car gets hot. It's horrible to clean off with any normal product. I have found one that is so easy you wont believe and makes it as clear as the day you bought it. There are these special cloths for glass you can buy at Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens'N Things. You don't need anything but the cloth-just wipe and it takes it right off like magic. You'll never be without one again. They are washable (no softener) which sounds like microcloths and they are in a way but different. They last forever. One will cost you $10.00 to $12.00, but worth every penny. Also cleans your TV screens, moniters, glasses, etc. Gotta try it to believe it!

Mix 1/2 cup ammonia to 1/2 gallon warm water. Take 2 clean terry cloth towel. Make sure you have not used fabric softener on them. Wash the windshield with the water/ammonia solution. Use plenty like you were washing the floor. Wipe off with the first towel and then dry completely with the second towel. You will never see another streak again. I do this for my house window also and never have a streak.

The best thing I have ever used to clean any glass is a couple of drops of dish soap and a bucket of water. Scrub it down real good with the solution until it squeaks (you can use a green scrubby on bad spots) and then wipe down with a terry cloth towel, no rinsing needed, and warn the kids if you do a sliding glass door.

If you are talking about your automobile, then Id say to you that your seeing thru that widshield isnt caused by a residue left on the window at all.
Here is the problem. When you put on the AC or HEAT or DEFROST, the AC Compressor comes on and actually the AC runs with the heat or defrost to dehumidify the car.
So Id say in your case your AC isnt working probably at all.
I had the same problem as you are having and I too, thought it was a residue left on the window. I had my AC fixed and gone is what I thought was the residue.

Vinegar and balled up newspapers - I use it for all windows! Now I can't tell you what it is in the ink of the paper that makes this work because its been 30 years since I read about it and started doing it...It was probably "a Hint From Heloise"...

vinegar and water works well with my truck, and my mother occasionally smokes in it too. One part vinegar, no matter the type, 3 parts water.
