Cat Meowing at all hours of the day and night?

My cat, Apollo, is a little over a year old, and not neutered. For the past week or so he's been meowing at the top of his lungs at all hours even waking me up out of a dead sleep 4-5 times a night. I'm not sure why he's doing this. I will bring him by me when he meows, but then he jumps down and starts meowing again. It can't be that he's lonely because I have another cat that he always plays with. I make sure that they have plenty of food and water and their litter boxes are cleaned. Both cats have plenty of toys to play with. My older cat doesn't meow as loud as Apollo does. I have contacted a vet about getting him neutered since I think he's looking for a mate. What could be making him meow like this?

SERIOUS ANWERS ONLY PLEASE!!!!!!

Update:

His meowing has been going on for about a week or so. I just recently moved as well, so I don't have a vet for them at the moment. As I mentioned before I am waiting for a vet to call me back regarding getting him neutered. Lucky Me is right on with my Apollo being a little flirt. He loves meeting new people.

First off my cat is the same age, and un neutered as well.

He crys non-stop, and when i hold him he jumps and crys as well. My cat is mentally challenged. Maybe you should see if your cat is as well, unless this recently started to happen.

    A)Your cat could have anxiety.

B)You should need to neuter him.

    C)Or Hes mentally challenged.

My cat has all three of those problems.

Male cats don't make the agonized wailing cat sounds that female cats in heat do; I don't it's a mating behavior. I've got a neutered male who did the same thing. I think he's just freaking out. One of mine did meow at the door, the wall, and the ceiling for no obvious reason, and he did it for minutes at a time. I would go over to where he was and just make meowing noises until he shuts up. Then i kept doing it after he got quiet to turn the tables on him, and he would just stare at me with a confused look. Yes, it was a little crazy, but it seemed to work.

Of course, you should also neuter the cat unless you like how cat piss smells and like taking trips to the vet whenever your cat comes back home with an abcess.

Well one major possiblity is that he is in pain. In that case you should obviously take him to your vet. Along with pain, he could have infections our irritations, such as fleas and tics. That also requires a trip to the vet. Another possibily that I know from prior experience is the longing of something. He could want food or water, or meat. He could also want to go outside, because he is not neutered. My cat does the exact same thing. My cat is neutered and wants to go out so badly, so I can't even begin to imagine how badly your cat wants to go outside. You say that your cat is not lonely, because there is another cat that he can play with, but he could still be lonely, for a mate. Also, he could be meowing constantly out of anger, or sadness. Did you take hime from an other owner, or his mother, because then he might be experiencing a state of depression. Anyways, it was a good thing to call you rvet, and I hope you kitty gets better!! Good luck!! ;)

I have male cats - 3 of them - your cat can smell a female un neutered cat and well your cat wants to mate it. The only way to stop it is to get your cat neutered or wait - it will pass when mating season is over.

Hes marking his territory, and searching for a date. There is absolutely no way to stop this except getting him fixed. Hes probably also pacing, and the next step will be for him to start spraying nasty smelling urine EVERYWHERE in the house.

Get him fixed immediately, it will stop the yowling, and prevent him from starting other nasty tom cat habits, which are only just around the corner.

I know I dont get points for this but I LOVE Paige A's answer! Apollo is mentally challenged! That would be it. He IS a flirt after all. We need to find the kitty shrink.

My female cat did this too. Get him neutered.

He's horny as hell. Female cats do this when they're in heat -- your cat is performing the male version.

    Get him neutered.

Yes, get your cat neutered and it will stop!

Yup. Get him neutered. That will probably fix the problem.
