Do you use Chinese herbal remedies?

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/north-east-news/tod...

What a waste of life.

I always thought they were safe to use.

I'll be thinking again from now on.

Does anyone know if they go through drug tests before they are sold to the public?

Do they need a licence to sell it?

No way!!! They use bear's testicles, all sorts of crap, even bottled male urine with ground "herbs" added.

Many of these products have been removed from sale in my country...

Also have heard of people becoming very sick.

They also keep bears chained in cages for life & extract bile from the bear's bile ducts.....Gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I never take herbal remedies of any kind cause I'm on medication in fact I check out everything I take and see if it interacts with other things, I was surprised to find out that I can't have green tea as it would have a reaction to one of the tablets I take. I was given statins only I choose instead to have omega 3/ fish oil, I also take garlic and vitamin c. I don't mind taking a vitamin only even then I check it out. Some herbal medicines are OK only I would make sure if they are OK for you to take and I'm not sure only I think some have to be licensed if not they should be.

    Hi BB

I would never use Chinese medicine on principle. I don't think it is regulated either because its supposed to be safe herbal remedies. Just goes to show doesn't it

You don't need a license, they aren't regulated - it is a modern day Snake Oil and people are that gullible they buy anything.

Not to mention the tigers they kill - and products containing tiger ARE sold in the UK.

I was tempted to try it a few years ago when I was at my wits end with chronic eczema but I was put off with a documentary I seen about it. My ma's pal also got royally ripped off - she spent £140 to on menopause remedies which were useless!

Our local one was shut down by trading standards.

    1. CHM is an alterntive therapy - therefore they do not have to follow the same testing rules and have voluntary regulation - personally I have used acupuncture which I had done at a very reputable clinic but I wouldn't use the "remedies"

    2. If the practitioner gets the mix wrong they can clearly be lethal.

    3. No licence is needed to practice - worrying isn't it?

Many Chinese and Indian herbal medicines are really good; I've tried them. Some might be bad too, but one can't put them all in one basket.

Nah these chinese remedies you can find in your local woodland, bits of twig, leaves and grass. Thats what is really in them and they don't work either.

I could use one right now, or any remedy, cos its monday bank holiday, and i have raging toothache! Ive tried all sorts, garlic, onion, loads of different tablets, bongela, nothing is flipping working and i got to wait til 9am for emergency dentist!

How sad. I've never used them, but people presume that they are okay because they are natural. I've always been sceptical about whether they work or not, but I would never have imagined they could actually potentially kill you.
