You loose 5 points for asking a question, because that is the way Yahoo answers works.

Mainly to stop spammers but also because yahoo want quality not quantity of questions and encourage you to answer more questions and earn points.

This is to mitigate spamming and encourage participation from other users. Now you see why this had to happen when asking questions here.
