What is your opinion of how the media will handle the news that Clinton told the truth?
The following story was reported by Anne Kornblut in the Washington Post, which shows that the Clinton story that she received from the sheriff about the death of a woman due to hospital refusal turns out to be true. A few of the minor details differ but the story is essentially solid.
Do you think the media will bury it, content to continue letting people say she has told another lie? Or will they do the right thing and report this?
'IT'S A TRUE STORY'
Dead Woman's Aunt Defends Clinton
The aunt of a young pregnant woman who died after an Ohio
hospital told her she needed to pay $100 upfront for care said in an interview Monday that Hillary Rodham Clinton has been telling the story accurately on the campaign trail, regardless of
assertions by a different Ohio hospital that it did not turn the
patient away.
For weeks, Clinton repeated an anecdote she heard in Ohio on Feb.
28 involving a young woman who lost her baby and later died because she lacked health insurance and did not have $100 to get into a nearby hospital.
But over the weekend, Clinton came under fire when officials at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, after reading about her remarks, demanded that she stop recounting it because the
patient, Trina Bachtel, was admitted there and did have insurance.
That part, it turns out, is true. But so is Clinton's assertion that Bachtel did not get care at another hospital that wanted a $100 pre-payment before seeing her, according to the young woman's aunt, Lisa Casto, who described her niece as having had preeclampsia. "It's a true story," said Casto, 53.

To those who still maintain she lied:
I was sort of waiting for these responses to make one very important point. She didn't lie to begin with, yet there are no lack of you with HDS that will claim she did no matter what. She reported a story as told to her by a sheriff, the bulk of which ends up to be true. It isn't something she made up, it isn't something that she embellished. It is something she was told by what was considered a reliable source.
Her campaign should have vetted this story better, that is undeniable. But to call this a Hillary "lie" just shows how over the top some of you go in your hatred for her.
Every one of you saying she lied about this would say she was lying if she said the sky is blue and the Earth revolves around the Sun. It's actually gotten more than a little bit disturbing.
David:
You are making quite a few assumptions about my support for Hillary. There are many things I don't agree with her on - for instance, one being her take on illegal immigration and another is her reliance on her years in the White House while talking experience. I think her experience in the White House was vital, but she relies on it too much. She should concentrate more on what she has done as a Senator, which is quite a bit when examined, and her hard work on the Senate Armed Forces Committee over the last seven years, as well as the work she has been doing for years upon years for children in this country. I can criticize her, and I often have. But what you see by accessing my latest questions and answers is a recent anger at what I consider to be a tanning by the media while they remain hynotized by Obama, and ignore his own embellishments and lies.
But I do think what you ask me is a fair question, considering what you have read so far of my recent Q&A's. I do have quite a bit of contempt for Barack Obama. I recognize b.s. when I hear it, and he has failed to adequately address his lack of strength in standing up to his mentor years ago, and cannot explain exposing his young daughters to race baiting and anti-American rhetoric. The more I hear of his close associations the more I mistrust the man. He is not a saint, he's a politician different than no other - except in the area of giving a great speech and appearing to be so above it all. He isn't. And I am appalled that once again the Dems are going to nominate a man who cannot win. The Republicans will eat him alive. They managed to make a war hero look unAmerican. They're going to inflict pain on Obama he can't even imagine yet - and his supporters refuse to even acknowledge what they are going to do to him.
Well, hope I answered your question. If not, <shrug>.

Actually, and laughing at myself here, I DIDN'T answer your question. My question will sway no one any more than people who dislike Obama will be swayed by his supporters' blind support. We post our questions, we expect most of the answers, and then sometimes we feel a bit better. That's about the extend of it in here. I don't think anyone posting in Politics really thinks they are convincing anyone of anything. Do you?
Oxygen:
You are one of my favorite sort of people these days. Those who see with eyes wide open. I understand you don't support Hillary. But you don't deny the obvious media bias surrounding her and Saint Obama. Sometimes it is comforting to know that an objective person can actually admit the bias is blatant, whether they like her or not. Thanks for that much anyway (wink).

Joe Scarborough is one of the fairest pundits I have ever seen on TV. And yep, I know he's a Republican and I'm a Democrat. But he calls it as he sees it, and he has been shaking his finger at the media for a while now for their worship of Obama and their roasting of Hillary Clinton. I'm not surprised that he brought it up, but today the big news was Petraeus, and tomorrow this story will already be dead news, leaving the first impression to remain. Which of course will be just fine with the HDSer's. This has been a very instructive circus, especially where the media is concerned, for a long time now.

Interesting .
How will the media handle it ? -- Well Elway, I sure have come a long way when I find myself continually defending Hillary . The looney left-wing media is busy in their Love Affair with Obama, and doesn't seem to be interested in fairness, let alone what seems to be an archaic word, 'JOURNALISM' .
I'm no Hillary voter, but I am a fair guy and interested in truth and fairness . And despite not supporting Hillary, I can't be honest with myself and just ignore how the media has treated her . Sure, some of the problems were her fault . But every candidate has problems. . . . unless of course we're talking about Obama . Obama's 'problems' seem to morph into wonderfully orchestrated 'Big Public Speeches' which the media buys into hook, line, and sinker .
Our media and Obama supporters have turned logic upside-down . No other candidate in U.S. History has ever gotten away with what Obama has . And for good reason too . Because he is a fake, a racist, a great deceiver, and really has no experience whatsoever .
BTW, beware Obama supporters claims that he was instrumental in an immigration bill . Truth is, he wasn't . And even Chris Dodd, the true organizer of that bill, said so recently . In fact Dodd went on to say that Obama's role was minor at best .

They keep you xenophobic when it fits the pre marshall law government as we see nowadays. They keep you shopping with the timely commercials. They don't focus as much attention on the floods or divert from the immensity of the oil spill so as to focus on a guy with dud m88's. Oh the fun we had with m80's and half sticks back in the late 80's. Basically what you have is an overglamorized campfire set in a nissan pathfinder by a person probably sick and tired of watching the same bullshit media we get subjected to and which also compels us to support wars in Iraq versus the culprits who sat in Afghanistan all the time while Bush checked his priorities. Want to see real media, go to youtube and type in collateral murder (6 million plus hits). The latter is the kind of media we aren't allowed to see so when we watch 24 we feel superior and justified.

It's very unfortunate. It falls into medias desire and need to frame stories in a certain light to make their job easier. Bush is not the idiot that the media portrayed him as in the first election, but that does not stop people from seeing him that way. In reality, his grades were only slightly worse than Gore's, but Gore's gpa never made national headlines. Kerry was not the flip flopper the media portrayed him as, but that didn't stop the media from showing nearly every instance that he took somewhat opposing views over a 24 year public career as an instance of him flip flopping Unfortunately, Clinton has now been cast as a liar, and every instance where she lies or exaggerates will be force fed down our throats without remorse or apology whenever the media is wrong. There may be a small story here and there, but nothing like the coverage of the mistake to begin with. A retraction on 3B and nothing on the newsertainment or pundit circuit will not garnish nearly the attention of the initial story despite the fallacies in the first run.
Obama will continue to get painted as unpatriotic or inexperienced, and McCain will continue to get publicity for every bit of anger he displays. They will be easier to shake off than Clinton's image as a liar, and will have more people come to their defense.

From the article :
Casto said she did not want to give the name of the offending hospital because the flood of calls over the incident has overwhelmed her and Meigs County deputy sheriff Bryan Holman, a friend of hers who retold the story to Clinton when she campaigned in southern Ohio.
So guess what ? We STILL don't know if Hillary was telling the truth because the aunt wouldn't give the name of the hospital that supposedly wouldn't treat her niece. If that story is true they should give the name of the hospital so it can be verified.
So the way the media should handle this is to either ignore it or point out what I just did.

They will ignore it. They only want all the negative on Hillary and while believing all the lies Nobama tells. . They will make him out to be a saint and her to be a sinner.
Some of us have better sense than to believe anything Nobama says. If his mouth is open and words are coming out, you can be sure its lies.
I read the same story and most of it was based on facts. The one who told her, just didn't have the story straight. But all the Nobama folks will only hear what they want to hear anyway.
They are going to be in for a rude awakening when he loses.
Go on Hillary!!!!

Joe Scarborough, as I expected, reported it extensively this morning. But the rest of the MSNBC crowd-Mathews, Olbermann and Abrams-didn't give it a mention; that, too, was expected. Overall, it appears they have pretty much ignored the correction after dwelling on it all day yesterday.
Amazing the way our media works today.

The media will try to bury it. If that doesn't work, they will point out that although most of the story was true, a "small part" of it was untrue and, therefore, Hillary is a liar.
The media will then acknowledge, on page 1, that although most of what the Rev. Wright preached was positive, a "small part" of it was anti-American, hateful and racist and, therefore, Reverend Wright is an anti-American, hateful racist.
What's the difference?

First it is against the law for any hospital to refuse care to anyone who shows up at emergency. That is why Hospitals in Tucson Los Angeles and all across the SW have gone bankrupt. Illegals are using the emergency rooms for all types of care and no one pays. Neither did the woman in question have to pay and she would have been helicoptered to a better hospital just as she was had she been without insurance or not to save her life.
The Hospital in question could not refuse her. It is the law. The entire premise is a lie.
Glad you asked

The truth as it comes to the sight of some comes from the girls aunt not from confirmed source, this aunt could be another brain washed Clinton socialist. The truth needs to come directly from the source of the accused. All records should be checked, I haven't heard it from the other hospital that she was turned away, just the aunts story.

Hillary told the truth?
That should be front-page headlines, it's so rare!
But seriously, I think Hillary shouldn't be faulted for re-telling a story she believed to be true. Especially since, in this case, she was trying to make a point, not specifically to further her own ambitions, but more to help people get better health care.
I'm for Obama, but let's not pick on Hillary for something she said in good faith with good intentions.
