How do I get my kitten to stop attacking the feeding bottle and in the process, my hand?
I'm trying to feed her with the bottle as she hasn't been weaned yet, being abandoned by her mother and all and she claws at the bottle and bites it anywhere else but the teat. Sometimes, my hand is an accidental casualty. Any ideas why and what I can do to nurse her without having to mummify my fingers later?

How old is she? If she's at least 3 weeks, forget the bottle and start her on canned food mixed with meat baby food, warmed. If she is younger than 3 weeks, then you need a surrogate mother. Get a stuffed animal to buffer your kitten from your hand. Hold the stuffed animal between you and the kitten. It's soothing for her, and helps teach her more normally that she is a cat. Unfortunately bottle raised kittens are the most likely to bite and scratch since they don't have mother/siblings to teach them bite and scratch inhibition. The more quickly you teach her that your hands don't have anything to do with food, the better.

When I was bottle feeding my kitten she did the same thing. I put her on her belly and she went nuts. Where do you think their little paws go when they drink from momma cat? Just deal with the spaz until she's weaned, her claws and teeth arent that bad yet anyway.

Put on a work glove, and she won't be able to claw or bite through it.
