A question (mostly) for Christians. Heaven is for ever?

I love walks along the beach. Strolling with my family to lunch at a nearby café. Standing atop a mountain, the world stretched out at my feet.

But much as I enjoy these things, I wouldn’t want to do them 'for ever'.

So I wonder what people think they will do ‘all day’ in heaven. Will it be like here on Earth? Or completely different?

Personal views preferred to scripture. Thank you.

Heaven is not beyond the clouds, it's just beyond our fears

Heaven is not above our heads, it's for us to make. Right Here.

There is no device, no machine, no program ever builit that can compete with human beings for making imagined things a reality. It is what we do best.

But so long as we focus on taking for ourselves FIRST, THEN caring for our fellow man, we are doomed to constantly fight each other. (since the beginning of recorded history, there have been less that 360 days where there was no war being fought anywhere on earth)

God made us to live, laugh, love, and learn. Arguably, the most powerful of these things is love.

When we, as a race, learn to imagine all the love that could possibly be given, and then make it our reality, heaven will be around us. Until then, life is gonna hurt.

Forever? Time is subjective. Burning to death can take forever, and a lifetime of days in a bliss-filled, loving relationship can fly by in the blink of an eye. Ask any senior citizen. They'll tell you. Time flies.

Happiness is found in loving what you do/where you do it/and who you do it with. I can easily see spending a couple thousand years enjoying life with the love of my life. But a life without her would be hell.

So, forever isn't so bad if you can find a love to carry you through it. Thus the importance of love.

Don't quote science it is always flawed, tainted and polluted by unknown facts that have not even been discovered yet. They constantly prove theories are wrong. Right not they are watching a planet being born and created out in the Universe and only speculating how this is being done and it has an orbit around a star. God is not of the Physical world so there is no way to prove or disprove His existence, Faith and belief is driven by the Bible, the stories it tells and the events that have happened and similar events that are happening in our Society. Every thing is composed of some kind or type of energy and even this can not be proven or disproved. It is incomprehensible to the Human mind to even understand things we can not explain. If there is no God, then you do not believe you have a soul or a spirit because that is a form of energy also.

  • Well, Imagine not having to work at some menial job that really doesn't accomplish any purpose. Being able to pursue any interest or habby such as fishing, scuba diving, mountain climbing, gardening, sky diving( with out a parachute) how could you really get bored? you would be able to explore the deepest fathoms of the oceans without scuba gear or worry of pressure imploding you. Your body is immortal. No death, no injury, no physical limitations. You could literally explore a volcano and swim in the lava. You could wrestle an aligator one day, a lion the next...Again, how could one possibly be bored? I believe that if you think Heaven would be boring, it is only because of your lack of imagination.

It will be Earth but without all the trouble and turmoil.

We are promised no pain, no troubles, no problems.

I plan to live my 'forever' days thanking and praising the God who created all this for us in the first place. I will be able to due this and live in peace with those around me.

Imagine going to the beach, swimming and not worrying about sharks biting you, stingrays stabbing you or drowning in a rip current...all things will live in harmony.

There is no sorrow....nothing to cause pain. Imagine never going hungry, never going to a hospital to visit the sick, never being sick, never having to go to the funeral of a loved one.

There will be world peace and you can go anywhere you want without fear of being blown up or killed for your wallet or your beliefs.

There would be so many things to do that it would be nearly impossible to be bored or wondering what will I do next?

No pain, that's a biggie for me, having survived cancer and living with degenerative arthritis and fibromyalgia, I look for, no, I actually long for the day that I will live pain free. I know this because HE has promised it.

One really important idea comes to my mind, I would rather live for the day that I will live as He promised, by acknowledging and accepting Jesus as my personal savior, asking for forgiveness and repenting daily for my sins, than to live the rest of my life knowing that by not doing so I will suffer as we do now but much worse and FOREVER.

Not long ago, a Christian friend in-visioned his beliefs of Heaven to me this way: that God's Creation is infinite. There are infinite planets, galaxies and a limitless Heaven we can't even begin to imagine. We will have eternity to explore it all.

Ill never understand why people want to know things about scripturally based religion and ask religious questions that do not include the very scripture that in which their religion is based!

    1 Corinthians 2:9

However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" —

Heaven will be perfect. There will be no pain, no suffering, nothing that we associate with the Mortal life we live now. Since it will be perfect, I don't think it will ever get "boring" or anything like that.

Me beliefs say that the Earth will become Heaven, only it will have been perfected. What that mean I do not know. Either way, I am looking forward to it. :)

One day while watching TCC (The Church Channel), I saw a short Jesus film describing heaven. Imagine three of your favorite smells, three of your favorite taste, three of your favorite sounds, & three of the most beautiful things you've ever seen. Now imagine a place where only those things exist with you living there for eternity.

I believe heaven is a place of constant growth, challenges, learning, and progress. I don't for one second believe in the boring repetitive harp heaven that many seem to be reaching for.

Personally, I have always thought the idea of living forever as being something very dreadful.

As you said... I couldn't do the same thing over and over FOREVER.

There is only so much you can discover and learn. Even if there are infinite permutations of things like... creating, conversing, etc... in the end (or lack thereof ;)), it would get monotonous.
