What is the attraction to butch lesbians and effiminate gay men?

well, i am bisexual, and i find butch women very attractive. i think its the mindset, i like strong women that can take care of themselves, who are powerful and dont need a man. i like femmy guys because they are sensitive and need me to protect them and makes me feel wanted and less used, only the butch guys seem to trick me and use me. i dont know if thats the answer you are looking for but its what i have felt myself

Whew, for a minute I thought you were implying that butch lesbians and effiminate gay men were attracted to each other. I almost swooned; but I digress. Butch women and effeminate men are still women and men respectively, don't look at the way we dress or how we act, just look at who we are. In this case you can't use yourself as the standard of who to date simply because you aren't gay. This was a refreshing variation of the old " Which of you is the man, or woman in the case of gay men" question

that's a bit black and white really.. most people are somewhat in the middle as far as butch/fem goes.. I don't fall in love with the way someone looks.. I am as attracted to butch women, as feminine women.. (although I prefer the all natural almost hippy type for some reason)

I've been this way since I was born.. (even my mother figured out before I hit puberty..) I've tried relationships with men.. they feel like brothers.. it's not the same.. There's no way to really explain the attraction.. you can't explain why you are attracted to someone can you?.. you either are or you are not..

I'm gay and am in no way attracted to effeminate men (or Lesbians for that matter)

Different people like different things.. some like more effeminate and some like men ultra masculine... its just one of those things and not something that can be made sense of so easily.

Similar, why do some tall men... like midget women and vice versa? It takes all sorts to make the world go round.

Let me ask you this, and perhaps it will clarify your question...

Are you only attracted to women with short hair ?

Are you only attracted to women who wear dresses ?

If you aren't, why not ? Are you gay ? Do you want women who look like men ?

To me, women who are "butch" don't look like men. They look like women. And there's nothing logical about your "logic". Because you're a heterosexual man, you're going to be attracted to heterosexual (ie feminine) looking women. Lesbians ARE NOT like heterosexual men. We are attracted to lesbians, not straight girls (though there is admittedly some crossover in both directions)

Here is the most simplistic breakdown and it is just for you.

What is attractive to one person is not attractive to another. People are different in what they find attractive. Repeat. (just for you) People are different in what they find attractive. This fact applies to male, female, straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender - across the board.

Do you get it now? It is a simple concept.

Can you understand that not everyone likes the same flavor ice cream that you like? You cannot expect to apply your likes and dislikes in terms of what you find attractive to the world and have everyone conform to them. Not everyone is like you. Not everyone is like me. We are all different.

The answer in a nutshell is people like and are attracted to different things in others, characteristics to include physical looks as well as personalities. in a word its called "genderfu*king"

basically this means that they like feminine qualities in a man or masculine qualities in a woman. its a kind of genderplay thing. it doesnt mean those people are transsexual, it means that its a difference away from the normal gender presentation and for some people thats very exciting.

this is because they arnt interested in a TYPE of person, in this regard anyway, they are interested in that person, as a sex. lesbians dont like penis, but that doesnt mean they are going to dislike everything to do with the stereotypical man. why is it people have to stick to the gender roles forced upon them?

I've always wondered this too! When I'm attracted to a girl, it's because she's a GIRL, not a girl-want-to-be-man. If that were the case I'd just go for a man :P

When i met my first girlfriend, she was a stone butch and i wasn't really attracted to her at first, but she kissed me and it was all over from there because i fell in love with who she is and THAT is sexy to me...
