Why does My 8 month old Pit chew on EVERYTHING?

I mean EVERYTHING she's got all the toys and stuffed animals to chew on but she's chewed up 3 extention cords, christmas lights, trees, lounge chairs..and the list goes on and on...do you think she'll stop once we fix her?

I'm pretty sure your dog is still going through his/her tooting procces, this hurts allot and chewing things is the only way she can treat the pain so just buy her a good chew toy and teach her that's the only thing she's allowed to eat. The best chew toy are the white hard ones, they come in diffirent shape and sizes and as the dog chews on it his/her saliva will loosen it up so she can eat it. Her gums might bleed but this is how the toy works, it cleans and strenghtens her tooth & gums you'll notice this because after a couple of times of chewing on it her gums will stop bleeding. Note that you'll have to buy a new one once in a while because she will completelly eat it after a while. ( I have to buy 30 every month, my dogo argentino has teeth of steel ( LOL ) and eats the huge bone shaped ones in less then 15 min!!

You can get them at any pet-shop but I don't know the name anymore sorry, but you should find them with the description I gave you!!

No she's teething, she'll stop when she's done. What you probably want to get her is something like a big knobbly nyla-bone, something hard that she can get to the back of her mouth to work on the molar gums. Also chunks of car tire but be prepared to find bits all over the carpet I'm sure a small price to pay over the furniture. Our pit LOVED those and kept up chewing on those even after he was don't getting his adult teeth. Before that he ate the corner of an altas and chewed on couch legs and a couple of foot stools not to mention the slats of the fence. Teething sucks for baby animals as well as baby humans. Good luck!

Has she lost her baby teeth? Chances are most of the chewing will stop when she gets her adult teeth. I don't think getting her spayed will stop the problem, but a good idea to avoid unwanted births. Hang in there!! I've been in your situation, and I know it's not fun; but your patience will be worth it in the long run.

Fixing her will have nothing to do with it. She's teething, and mouthing....it's really intense now, but will slow down and hopefully eventually stop. She's also doing it, because she's a puppy! That's what puppies do. Make sure she's got plenty of toys (I know you said you did, but...) and correct her when she does wrong. You know, alot of times, just puppyproofing your house will work. I have an 8 month old APBT girl myself, and anything we dont' want her to get into, we remove before we leave her. Such as the garbage....ew.

She may still be teething. My dog didn't stop teething until she was a year old. Try muzzling he when you're not around (or keeping her outside) and when you are home keep an eye on her and reprimand her so she knows what not to chew on. Hope this helps!
