Spayed cat pulling out stitches HELP?

She got spayed on Tuesday April 22, 2008. The vet noticed she was licking her stitches and gave me a e-collar for her. Well she had it on since then, but I just checked on her and she got the cone off and had one of the stitches pulled out. How long does it take for skin to start to fuse together. What if she opens the other 3 stitches. Can it open up and her insides fall out. Please help. I am so scared. My other 3 cats never bothered with their stitches. What should I do?

Update:

nobody is open. I will call the vet first thing in the morning. What can happen? I feel so sick and worried about her?

Update 2:

She is wearing an e-collar. she had it on since she got fixed, but somehow she managed to get it off.

Keep a close eye on her, keep the cone and there is this stuff called bitter apple that taste awful that you put around the insion and she will leave it alone.

The best thing you can do right now to prevent her from tearing any more stitches out is to get an Ace Bandage for the ankle at any drug or grocery store (you may even have one around your house), and wrap it tight enough around the area, but not tight enough to cut off the circulation. No, she is not going to pull out all the stitches and her insides fall out--this will not happen. What could happen is the incision could get infected if not healed by her scratching around in the litter box. Put the cone back on her, and if this does not work, call your vet and they may have you bring her back in for a professional wrapping with the vet tape. It only takes 5 - 7 days for these incisions to heal, and she'll be just fine. Good luck to you and bless you for having her spayed.

It takes about 10 to 14 days before they normally remove stitches. If she pulls the other three stitches out you should definitely take her to the vet right away, but I wouldn't worry too much about her insides falling out.

Just make sure the e-collar is secure and keep a close eye on her for about two weeks.

My cat kept taking her collar off too. We weren't sure how she was doing it but we eventually just made it tight enough so she couldn't move it, but not so tight she couldn't breathe.

Well, first thing, inspect the stitches. Can you see red Skin where she pulled the stitches up, or is it mostly closed up where you see just a white line, or a white line with indentation - If you see a white line, or white indentation, theres probably nothing to worry about. It the wound is red, than it hasn't healed very much yet, and it needs to be restitched up.

If she's not bleeding, I wouldn't worry too much, but I would call the vet tomorrow. Just make sure that the ECollar is on more securely.

Sorry, but I think she needs to go back to the vet. My small dog had an allergic reaction to the cat gut stitches and her wound was opened. Your easiest first bet is to make a thing that looks like a lampshade to put around her neck until she can get to a vet. You can use a plastic milk jug, just make sure it is comfortable around her neck. This is just until she gets to the vet if you don't have the means to get there for over a few hours or until morning. Good luck to you, I know how scary and frusturating pet problems can be. If only they could tell us what is going on... :)

i don't have a cat but i had the same trouble with my male rabbit i just kept the collar on him and kept him in eyes view all the time it heals in about a week and a half to two weeks on a rabbit so i'd think it's the same. His stitches came out in the beginning and his insides didn't fall out he just bled a little hopes this helps. But i got him restiched when he first pulled them all the way out.

My cat has carried out that for the time of the previous.. After she'd been neutered, approximately 2-3 hours after popping out from the vets she'd controlled to pull out 3 stitches. mutually as my different cat had no issues. We went decrease back to the vets and that they positioned a cone on her and sent her abode. 2 days later, we got here downstairs in the morning and she or he'd torn aside her cone in desperation and torn out her stitches back.. After that, we took her decrease back to the vets and that they stored her in for some days under a comfortable sedation till the hot stitches dissolved adequate for her to not pull them out back. in case you notice her attempting to get at her stitches, purely try to allure to her interest someplace else, purchase her a sparkling toy or take care of her to a packet of delicate food? If that doesn't artwork, purely take her to the vets back and clarify that she's been pulling them out back and that they are going to get her regarded after. wish this permits xx

Call an emergency vet clinic if yours is no longer open. They might give you an e-collar (the big cone looking things) so that she is unable to pull them out. If its bad enough they might have to reclose it.

you need to call your vet, or a 24-hour clinic if your vet isnt open, right now.
