Buying baby stuff from...?

My sister-in-law has 2 kids, 2 1/2 and 6 weeks. She is telling me and my husband that we should never buy any car seats or any baby furniture from Wal-Mart or Target. She says that the baby won't want to sleep in the car seat, because Wal & Targets aren't as comfy.

Question: They both have the "name brand" baby stuff, why would it be different than buying them at Babies R Us?

Do you buy your stuff at Target?

I'm 18 weeks, so we still have a while, before we need them, but would like ideas.. Thanks!

How does she know? Has she laid in both to see of she could fall asleep?! I see babies all of the time sleeping very good in those kind of carseats! Sounds kind of stupid to me.

We are getting ours from Target!

Buying the 'brand name' stuff is the same, no matter where you buy it. The only difference is you will save money buying it at Walmart most of the time. (don't know about Target, I've never shopped there - none local) I got all my major baby furniture from Walmart (stroller system, high chair, playpen, carseat, etc) and have never had any problems whatsoever. Some people just don't feel Walmart is 'ok' I guess. Seems cheap to them maybe, regardless of the products they carry.

    It's the SAME!!!!

I have 2 kids and one on the way. You should go to consumerreports.org and get a list of the best car seats. Consumer Reports did a test last year and pretty much found them ALL TO BE UNACCEPTABLE. They gave two acceptable ones.

Now if you said CLOTHES, I don't think walmart clothes are that durable. they are fine for daycare but other than that, I go to Kohl's, target, but love baby GAP!

I still have to buy all that stuff and I'm due next month..but what I have been doing is going on walmart.com or whatever store you decide to buy from and read people's product reviews. That will give you somewhat of an idea on what and where to get things. Good Luck

hi there i think from the sounds of it that your SIL is one of those people who has to have the more expensive things i got all my stuff at either target or walmart for my son and he loves it all he is very comfy and quite happy so i dont think there is any reason why to spend ten more dollars at another store while its the exact same thing at walmart hope this info helps

There is no difference in the products sold at Walmart or Babies R Us.

Sounds like she is just being a product snob.

If you are buying a national brand name, then they should be the same from store to store. I choose not to shop at Walmart for personal reasons, but it really shouldn't matter where you get them from.

your sister is a moron for paying a higher price for stuff her babies use because she wouldn't be caught dead in lower class stores. i have three kids and each carseat was purchased at walmart. and every time we take a thirty minute drive i have three sleeping beauties in the backseat. =)
