What will obama really accomplish by have talks with terrorist leaders?

Barack Obama has said he would sit down, unconditionally, with the leaders of oppressive regimes around the world. Today, as many celebrate Cuban Independence Day, we are reminded how the Cuban people continue to live under tyranny on that imprisoned island. The Castro regime, for decades under Fidel and now under his brother Raul, enforces strict limits against freedom of expression, association, assembly, movement and speech. This regime led by Raul oppresses its people and regularly flaunts its hatred of the United States. Yet, Barack Obama said he would sit down, unconditionally, with Raul Castro.

If we withdraw prematurely from Iraq, Al Qaeda in Iraq will survive, claim victory and continue to provoke sectarian tensions. Iraq could easily descend into genocide and destabilize the entire region as neighboring powers come to the aid of various factions.

A reckless and premature withdrawal would be a terrible defeat for our security interests and our values

has obama said what he will talk about?

And who told you that Cuba is an 'imprisoned island'? Your brainwashing tv and newspapers? I find Cuba just fine, happy and smiling people.

'reckless and premature withdrawal would be a terrible defeat' ( from Iraq ) ? You are already defeated. There is no way anything more can be done in Iraq. Rivers of blood flooded the country thanks to your 'friendly' visit. Do you want to continue? Not enough innocent blood ?

Let Obama try. It cannot be worse than it is now. Maybe he will bring back international respect of your country.

for sure, plenty greater effective than invading international locations and killing harmless people. the U. S. is in a financial rift by using fact they're combating 2 wars that went unfunded by way of the previous administration, and now that's costing this us of a relatively a lot of money which would be greater desirable used someplace else. How can any American call everybody a terrorist while this us of a positioned dictators in skill all worldwide. Haiti, Liberia, Cuba (till now Castro), and so on.

Al queda invaded Iraq as a challenge to America and the Bush administration. Its only so much you can do for a country that is not stable on its own. You cant FORCE stability. Military force does not ensure stability. When is it time to get out of Iraq?? If not now, then when? Why procrastinate the inevitable. Do we plan to occupy them forever. Iraq is such an unstable nation. So if the Bush administration want to "help" the country they need to just gain control and call it a U.S. territory. Thats the only way I see lasting peace happening.

And what terrorits did Obama say he would talk to. Because the last time I checked he said he would talk to the leaders of the countries we were "not so friendly" with. If there is something wrong with trying to talk out differences, then I really dont know what this country has come to. Try your best to prevent war. If necessary, then engage in battle. That shows concern and care for innocent lives that may not have to be taken.

Obama comes from the "Jimmy Carter" school of diplomacy; reasons why, Obama will embrace our enemies:

    1) Since there is no way Obama will ever defend the USA, he

wants some diplomatic history with the enemy so

if and when there is a reason to act militarily, he can

always defer to diplomacy, instead of taking action- which

he will not do, under almost any circumstances.

    2) In exchange for a photo-op with an enemy regime, Obama

will claim it was his efforts, for anything positive that might

happen in the future between the countries.

    3) The America our forefathers sacrificed and fought for, is

    the America that Obama and his followers believe is evil;

as long as America is capitlaist, any help breaking us

down, even if its from our worst enemy, is regarded as

helpful in their agenda for conversion to socialism.

    4) Anything negative that happens, regardless why or who's

fault will be because Bush refused to negotiate with

terrorists and enemies of the USA.

The enemy considers the recognition by the foolish emissary of the USA, to be a victory for their cause. Obama would be as Carter has been shown, to be an inept and weak leader, to the people of the enemy. They laugh at us, we give huge compensation for temporary concessions that will be reneged in short order, so the buffoon- Carter, Obama (pick one) will come back with more gifts, compensation and concessions in exchange for temporary concessions & the procedure just repeats over and over.

These people are not crazy. They in they're own countries have sought solutions to problems that seem like they can not be fixed. They have chosen to correct one problem and they end up creating more. They become dictators and terrorist organizations. By the time they realize they are wrong it's too late.

What Obama is doing is saying these people are not faceless demons. They are people, screwed up people but still people. They're is truth in saying that the people who lived in Palestine should have a voice and they were done wrong. They're is also truth that the state of Israel is not going anywhere so crazies just have to deal with it.

Your naievity is assuming that there are actually good guys and bad guys and the good is here and the bad is "there" . There are only peacemakers and warmongers. That's it. You know which one the islamic terrorist(Not all people who are Islamic are terrorist) are and for that matter the rightwing jews of Israel ( No !not all Isrealis are rightwing)....which one do you want to be?...

"Blessed are the peacemakers for they will called sons of God."

First of all, "oppressive regimes" and "terrorist leaders" are not the same thing. Obama expressing willingness to open communications with the heads of hostile sovereign nations, instead of just bombing the sh*t out of them, means that he is willing to hear what they have to say and try to approach problems in a logical manner.

Using Cuba as an example, maybe Obama wants to sit down with Raul Castro and start off by saying, "What do you think the two of us need to do to begin improving relations between our two countries?". There is nothing wrong with throwing the situation on the table and then working from there. There is NO REASON to start off by antagonizing anyone.

As for Iraq, Al Qaeda didn't show up until we destablized their government by ousting Saddam. And other countries (Iran, Syria) are already sticking their noses in. Our "values" have nothing to do with anything. Contrary to popular belief, Iraq is not "our" country or "our" culture.

If you have to talk to someone it's best without conditions otherwise it's a photo op. Also I don't see why we have to pay someone to talk to them. Every talk with that N Korean clown has an invoice attached.

Anyway Ahmad-whatever may not be the guy to talk to in Iran. The Castro boys aren't immortal either. They're older than McCain.

Also we as a nation cannot take on the world. We don't have the resources. I don't see us mouthing off to China or Russia.

So we may as well talk. Ignoring rogue states isn't the answer

either. Afghanistan taught us that. Imagine if you will a kid with bad behaviour. It's not cute anymore when the kid gets older.

    Terms for peace with them.

The issue then will be that anyone who has a gripe can blow up American interests and kill American citizens and then dictate peace terms or ransom/extortion amounts at will.

How many lives is Obama willing to lose just to start negotiations that cost America her freedom and sovereignty?

It's not a matter of entering into a deal with the Devil. It's a matter of making deals with each and every one of the Devil's minions.

JUST WHO'D BE RUNNING THIS COUNTRY THEN.

There is a difference between the former Soviet Union and terrorists. The Soviet Union was a country recognized as a civilized nation. We Dare not confer the same status to terrorists.

There will always be groups like Al Qauda- whether we withdraw from Iraq or not. There will always be dictators like Fidel and Raul. There will always be threats to our country's security. The days of using our military to change every bad and corrupt leader are over. The war against terror can never be won with combat. It can only be won by knowing and understanding our enemies and finding what their weakest links are.

Obama wants to talk to these leaders to not only prove to them we are unafraid of them. But to prove that we are willing to hear what they have to say. Isnt that what everyone really wants? To be understoond?

Any troop withdrawl from Iraq would not be premature. It is inevitable. And it is not a sign of defeat, but simply another step.

    Obama 08

  • Well, the greatest Republican hero of all times, Ronald Reagan sat down with no preconditions with the leader of what he himself called "the evil empire" - the Soviet Union.

And did he accomplish anything? only the fall of the Soviet Union, substantial nuclear disarmament, democratic reforms in Russia and the end of the cold war.

Nah - definitely not worthwhile talking to those we disagree wtih. We're much better off just stomping through the middle east - driving up oil prices, weakening our military, making Iran much more influential than ever, and alienating our own allies in the process.

Think about it I beg you before you just swallow all of that idiotic bullsh** that the Bush administration is feeding you!!!!
