Broken wrist?

last week I broke my wrist ( the scaphoid) and it will be in a cast for 5 weeks or so.

I was wondering if there is any exercise or similar I can do with the fingers on that hand etc.

Even opening a packet of sweets hurts like hell.

Any advice?

i broke my scaphoid to! two months ago and i am still in the dang splint and got another month to go.... i just let it rest and it feels so much better....just let it rest for a few weeks then (carefully) start using it as much as you can in a cast once the splint is on after the cast just use the hand as much as you can in the splint. once it feels good take your wrist out of the splint when you are just around the house and stuff....you want to slowly strengthen it....i suggest one of those stress balls or whatever they are called.....they are fun (well at least i think so) and they strengthen you wrist but once it starts to hurt stop and start again the next day it needs to be a gradual process

    good luck!

Talk with your doctor before beginning any excercises. Often with scaphoid fractures, you have an extended healing period and if you are smoker, it may take even longer. Scaphoid fractures take forever to heal. Your doctor most likely wants you to ice, elevate and rest that hand until your cast comes off. All of those things should help with pain and swelling.
