Someone posted that Obama (based on the latest polls) is ahead 309-229.

But, if you look at the polls, a lot of those states are close (less than 4 points). "Margin of error" means that the race is too close for a poll to determine accurately which way the whole state is going.

If you take that 309-229, and filter out states with less than a 4 point lead for either candidate, then you have Obama 231-188, with 119 up for grabs.

Pennsylvania (21 EV), 46-42 Obama

Ohio (20 EV), 48-46 Obama

Georgia (15 EV) 44-43 McCain

North Carolina (15 EV) 45-41 McCain

Virginia (13 EV) 49-47 Obama

None of these big 5 can be considered safe for either candidate.

WE need to inform/TELL our political representatives that WE NEED TO PASS a Constitutional Amendment for the LINE ITEM VETO.

This will keep the SPECIAL INTEREST GARBAGE from being attached to valuable legislation.

RECENTLY - - JUST 13% of Likely Voters now say the DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED Congress is doing a good or excellent job. A recent Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 43% give Congress a poor rating.

Those results represent a slight decrease from the previous month, when 15% gave Congress a good or excellent rating.

Democrats generally believe in heavy fines for honest work, while rewarding sloth and indulgence.

Do YOU think that people should be able to do absolutely nothing productive and get government hand-outs for sloth and indulgence - healthcare, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, STDs, etc. ??

Do YOU want to have YOUR MONEY TAKEN from YOU and YOUR FAMILY to FINANCE these people ???

Why would it matter to me? All I see coming is same song,different key,even different tempo! McCain is an old fartknocker and Obama just a plain @$$ phony just using the race card to the hilt.

The socialists for Obama would have won if you had run your test on a weekday afternoon while the Republicans are at work making things happen in America. It is truly amazing how all the socialists show up in then. Try it, you'll see. But don't try it in the morning, the socialists are still sleeping-in.

McCain will win for sure, no matter what all the national polls say. Besides even Obama is slowly agreeing with what McCain is saying , he is just making it sound like it was all his own idea.

That poll is probably more accurate than some of the others we've seen. I imagine McCain will win, because most people are too smart to vote for Obama. His support base is shrinking daily.

Its hardly a scientific poll.

One must also remember that this is a global site. And that means time may play a factor in things.

For example, if you were to ask a question about politics at 7pm Eastern Standard Time (where most Republicans live--Bible Belt of the Southeast), it will be 3pm Pacific Standard Time in California (that bastion of Democrat thinking). At 7pm EST the Republicans are at home and more likely to be answering, while the more Democratic California is still working at their 9 to 5 job at 3pm PST. So they are not as likely to be online playing around at one of these sites.

Which means that if you ask a question at 7pm EST you will get a lot of Republican responses and not so many Democrat responses.

But if you ask at 9pm PST when the more Democratic states are at home; but its 1am EST and most Republicans are asleep--then you will get more Democrat responses to the same question.

So you cannot really do a political poll here and get accurate results for the most of the country. I might also point out that polls for just one state usually ask 1000 people, and its even more than that for national polls. You asked 30 people. Nowhere close to the national poll levels that try to ensure more varied and more representative answers for the whole of the nation.

This proves nothing one way or the other. An Obama favored question would not do so either.
