For those claiming that Mormons are not Christian-?V.3?

V1 the servers were down-did not count.

V.2 http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylc=X3oDMTE1Mm... - 17 answers

2- from Mormons defending their faith, not the intended audience

1 who got best answer from this sad group said "mormons are like christians on steroids."

And 14 from people claiming that we believe xyz that they don't, some false, some true, some a mishmash of truth and falsehood, none of which answered my question which once again is " Name one thing that is *Universally* believed among Christians that Mormons do not also believe. I acknowledge that we do not accept the Nicene Creed. Many Christian sect do not. So name one thing that is *Universally* believed among Christians that Mormons do not also believe. I humbly await your reply.

Update:

Robert did not answer the question that was asked.

Update 2:

rialisi made a clever attempt but by that logic we were not Christian until the declaration but have been now for over a century?

Update 3:

Thank you Kelly S but having had a living prophet for almost 2 centuries we believe Lots of stuff that Traditional Christians have not had access to. The question remains ? What do all of you believe that we don't?

I can't think of anything that christians universally believe that Mormons don't. Some possibilites may include that there was no pre-existence, marriage is "until death do you part", and that the Bible alone is enough. Yes, there are things that Mormons believe that the rest of the christian world doesn't, such as The Book of Mormon, having a living prophet, holding the restored priesthood, functional temples, and a few other things. Just because of a few differences, suddenly they are not christian? There are differences between every Christian church worldwide! Some other's claiming to be christian must just not want to realize that there is really nothing dramatically and tramatically different that would be grounds for claiming that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is not christian, because if they did, a lot of the Mormon bashing and ridiculing would have to end. After all, isn't Christianty believing and following the techings of Jesus Christ? If Mormons didn't believe and follow Christ, why would they be called The Church of *Jesus Christ* of Latter Day Saints. I honestly think if people actually did their homework, and asked somebody who actually is a mormon what they believe, they would find that a lot of the stuff people are claiming to be truth is actually only myth. I know I am not claiming mormons are not christian, I am Latter Day Saint myself, but I still think my input is worth something.

    These responses are interesting.

Robert fails to note that LDS marriages aren't done in heaven, that's the point of having an eternal marriage while on earth. There is no scripture in Isaiah that says that, there is no scripture in the bible that says that, and any claim that Joseph Smith had unfulfilled prophecies are debatable to say the least. Also, we don't have ANY original manuscripts of the bible - from the ones we do have of the New Testament there are more variations than there are words in the New Testament. Read "misquoting Jesus" by Bart Ehrman.

Kelly is confused about LDS teachings. We don't focus on populating other worlds unless you believe that the Godmakers is a credible source of information on our religion. There are many instances in the bible to speak of a pre-existence; Job was told by God "before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee". If there was no pre-existence, then there could have been no prophecy of those to come and the bible is full of this. I also don't get the irony in saying that Christians don't believe that God is a man with flesh - believing in Christ is believing in a man with a corporeal body who calls Himself the "Son of Man" and resurrects Himself.

Kipp and Railsi's answers are so inane that they deserve no comment.

Swoardsman - I have complete respect for you and your answer. It's well written and well studied.

Mormons believe that God was a man with flesh and bones. Christians believe that God always was. Adam was the first man.

Mormonism teaches that all human beings and spirits, including Jesus and Satan, existed as spirit beings before being born and that if all temple obligations are fulfilled they will become a god.and are eligible to create "spirit children" as God the Father did and populate a world of his own. However, The Bible says, there is no pre-existence of human spirits in an earlier life before our earthly existence; the Bible does not teach this in any form. And humanity is permanently on a lower level than God. The Bible says nothing about populating other worlds, it teaches only about the coming kingdom of Christ and New Jerusalem (Revelation 21)

I believe Mormons are on the right track, just terribly misguided on a couple of key points.

    1) Being married in heaven, this goes directly against what Jesus said in the Book of Matthew.

    2) Believing Joseph Smith was a true prophet, even though some of his prophecies were never fulfilled, read the Book of Isiah, God says a true prophet will be 100% right 100% of the time.

    3) Inability to produce the "Golden Plates", when every other manuscript can be verified.

Other than that you can call yourself whatever you want.

Mormons believe in the book of mormon that some lunatic claims he found on top of a mountain in its entirety.

This lunatic then claimed that polygamy was an essential part of the religion.

This same lunatic was a known womaniser.

Therefore: "the one thing that christians believe that mormons do not" would be the unity of ONE man and ONE woman in holy matrimony.
