Does anyone know of any organizations that donate funds for people who rescue cats?
We have an injured stray cat in our apt. complex who has been outside for years (about 4 yrs). He will let my husband pet him and really trusts him. He is fed regularly, but now he's injured his paw and desperately needs medical attention, but we cannot afford to have him operated on and all the associated costs. We'd love to give him a home and a good life, but we desperately need some financial help. We live in Virginia (northern). Pls. respond ASAP.

I would check on petfinder.com for a local cat rescue group, many of them have a feral cat program geared to help spay/neuter them they may also have funds to help with injured cats. They may also take him in and re-home him. There are some groups that help people that can't afford medical care here are 2 that I know of.

Whatever, you choose to do, you need to so quickly as not taking this cat somewhere (even if it is the local shelter) is causing the cat to be in pain and distress. There are most likely groups that do TNR (trap, neuter, release) programs in your area for feral cats who may be able to help. Your local shelter most likely would have that information. Or you could check if there is a vet that would be willing to do payment plans. Some vets do in the right circumstances. There are also pet credit cards for emergencies dealing with pets. If you cannot take on the financial burden, then you need to do what is best for the cat and get it to a local shelter.

I don't know of any organizations that do that, and I live in new york, not Virginia. If you can't take care of this cat you should give it to a no kill adoption center, or find a person who you trust and who is close to you that can take care of the animal. It could be possible to go to an organization that helps for low income that will operate on your pet.
Good luck

Do you have an RSPCA or similar in the states? In australia this is the organisation which rescues and helps injured, abandoned and abused animals. If you hav e something like this you could try contacting them and asking if they will take him and give him some medical attention.
Here is also a good website that has quite a few organisations in Virginia which may be able to help

Call your local shelter. I wouldn't take him there, but they can certainly point you in the direction of some no kill shelters. Also, do a google search for pet rescue in your city or town. Something will pop up. Contact them and you will be well on your way. Best of luck to you and the kitty!

Call your local humane society, they should have a list of cat societies that help in these instances. I did the same in az and the one I used was called AZCATS. So they are out there.

You should really give him to a animal shelter and then from their the animal shelter will fix him up , and then he could be adopted out.
