Anyone else think WALL-E wasnt all that good for a Disney/Pixar movie?

I watched it a few nights ago and was very disappointed, not up to the usual Disney/Pixar standard. What do you think?

Update:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but come on Mariana D, Cars is one of the best Disney/Pixar film ever made.

I agree, after all the 5 stars I thought it was going to blow me away. And probably on paper it should have- the graphics were absolutely amazing, as Pixar's always are, shown so by the fact the silent parts of the film with Wall.e and EVE were, in my opinion anyway, the best bits. A good moral to the story, or at least a tongue-in-cheek look to the future. Where I think it fell apart slightly and didn't live up to past Pixar's like Toy Story, although I am slightly biased since that's my favourite film, is the lack of real supporting cast. When the story slowed it did so because Wall.e and EVE weren't on screen and too much time was overviewing the world, as visually beautiful as it was, created on the space ship. The captain was a good guy but I never felt emotionally attached, there was no stand-out bad guy and because of the lack of talking of the robots when they appeared en-masse their characters never showed through as Pixar have before with large groups of characters- Toy Story for example (sorry!) within the space of a few seconds (the Plastic Corrosion awareness meeting) of meeting them, you know exactly where you stand with the main group of supporting characters, about 5 of them. That group supporting cast has always been a strong point in the best Pixar films, Toy Story (sorry sorry!), Finding Nemo, Bug's Life, The Incredibles etc etc. Maybe Pixar were just that little bit self-indulgent in showing everyone- and quite rightly- the world they've created and left out that key element that has always made their films so successful, in my opinion anyway.

I disagree. I think it raises the bar for computer animation while bringing a whole new level of originality and creativity to the art form. Some people may not understand or appreciate the courage it takes to make a nearly silent feature-length animated film in this day and age, but I think it shows just how far Pixar has come. Their character animation is so good you can tell what Wall-E is thinking even though he can only speak three words.

Really. I think that Wall-E is the best work they've ever made. It's one of the few Pixar movies that actually has a deeper meaning (besides "FRIENDSHIP" and "DONT BE MEAN TO PEOPLE" and stuff like that.). Not only does it look beautiful, the story is uniquely dystopian, and if the "candy coating" was taken off it would be a commentary on what we are going to end up as in the future if we don't do something: stupid and fat. Also, from a movie buff's standpoint, they manage to have a 30 minute section of the movie with virtually no dialogue at all and make it work. That in itself is a triumph.

Try to rethink your standpoint. It's a movie that is designed to get you thinking.

I agree, i loved the disney movies from the 90's = Aladdin, little mermaid, Cinderella, Snow White, Lion King.. ect.

i thought wall-e was pretty boring, there was basically like no talking. i mean it was cute, but definetly not up to par with their other movies.

Newspapers and critics were saying wall-e is the next huge disney movie.

The kids at the day camp i work for pretty much loved it though.

Well i have not seen the movie and will never see it ( unless on tv and decide to see a little bit of it) But my friend said it was not good. She said it was about fat people, space, and envirnment. Also that it was a waste of money at the theater. But i am not sure if it is true.
