Why doesn't this continuous rhetoric bother more people?

At a speech, Obama said this:

"Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me... You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

Why does this keep happening?!? McCain has never said anything like that, his campaign has never said that, and nobody that matters in the political scene has said that.

I thought Obama was supposed to be the one to transcend all of this race talk and wasn't going to make this an issue? When are he, and his supporters, going to figure out his race doesn't have anything to do with this election (except to black voters who support him 95% to 5% according to the latest Rasmussen poll).

This is why Obama is alienating so many voters and why he is not blowing this race wide open. People are sick of his rhetoric.

Update:

Let me assure you, Obama is far from talking over my head. He is a total idiot. He is clueless on how to set policy for this nation. I have more education than he, and almost as much professional experience. I also understand economics and American political philosophy, two things he clearly does not. He is just another blowhard pandering politician that can't win on issues so he shoots his mouth off. McCain isn't much better, frankly, but at least he doesn't have hopes of changing us into a socialist democracy where we can take wealth from one group and give it to another if they complain loudly enough and call it fair and just.

Liberals love playing the "race card" when it's to their advantage...but when the shoe is on the other foot, then it becomes racism. The truth is racism won him the nomination. All through out our history when you objectively compare the plight of black men to women (white and black), women always get the shaft. Black men were given voting rights first, and that's just one example. Don't get me wrong I would never support Hitlerbeast (I mean Senator Cliton), but racism won him the nomination. In many liberal "progressive" minds, history owes the black community a president, or a black man deserves to be president. "Why?" "Because." "Because why?" Because of slavery, because he's black, take your pick. How many people alive today (in the U.S.) were born into slavery? I'll give you a hint the number you're looking for is a BIG FAT ZERO. Slavery ended over a century ago, no one currently alive in this country was ever a slave. How long do we have to continue to pay for it? Or they'll bully you into voting for him by saying "you're racist" if you don't. Well doesn't that also make his supporters racist? Seriously, if skin color (black or white) is your only criteria for a president, then you are a racist. I won't vote for him simply because I don't agree with his socialist policies, he is completely lacking in any political experience, and he never served in the military (one of my personal prerequisites for the presidency).

I'm sorry, I went off on my diatribe before answering the question. The rhetoric doesn't bother more people, because liberals have for the last 30 years been subtly and steadily making their agenda mainstream. The liberal agenda is all over television (the news, sit coms, "reality" shows, hell even in the game shows), the radio, movies, and has completely taken over the college campuses across the country (as a recent college graduate I got to witness it first hand 5 days a week in school). Anyway because of its subtleness and gradual absorption into pop culture and now into the main stream, we never really noticed it (kind of like a child growing an inch a year). Therefore, this type or rhetoric doesn't bother most of us because we are so used to it, that we don't even notice it. I don't know which is sadder, the fact that Obama resorts to this type or rhetoric, or the fact that most Americans are blind to it.

I'm so tired hearing about the "race" thing...mostly from democrats! I've seen comments on here stating that if you vote for McCain then you're a racist!! How stupid!

I don't call myself a republican or democrat...I vote for who I believe would do the best job. And it won't be Obama. Actually, he sort of scares me. I'm not saying he's the "antichrist"...but anyone who reads the Bible and knows what God said about the antichrist when he comes and what he'll be like - fits Obama to a tee!!! Smooth talker, will say what everyone wants to hear, people will think he's the next best thing to the Messiah (and later will believe he really is!).

Tell ya what...if he becomes president, and is involved in a 7 yr peace deal with Isreal, I'm going to pack everything up and go hide in a cave!!

Actually, I'm more concerned with his own racist rhetoric. From Barack's book, Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

AMEN!!!! Brother!!! Hey i'd vote for u. and u are right he is an idiot. he talks down to people, is arrogant, is ridiculous, has no experience or knowledge, is very insecure, etc.... i think he is totally dilusional. he is an insecure man that has no idea what he is black or white. thats why he always picks the race card. thats the reason he went to that church and loved that reverned. they share the complexity of being insecure cause they don't feel they fit in any race directly.... it cultural duality and that made him insecure. but now that he has this position look how arragont he has gotten. he said he has real answer.. HA!!! what answer does he have: change... thats all he says change.. and not only that but any ANY ANY obama supporter says the samething. why r u voting for obama? ...he's for change... what kind of change? ...Uhhhh wellll, he is for change. THats the conversation u'll get out of an obama supporter.

What bothers me about any presidential campaign (not just this one) is that the candidates can't stay away from attacking each other, slinging any kind of mud they can in order to make the other guy look bad. What it does do is make the guy slinging the mud look like a moron. So I guess it looks like we've got a couple of morons running for president! At least, that's what it looks like, from one on the outside looking in. Why do they have to do that? Why can't they just stick with what THEY'RE going to DO, not focus on the other guy's lack of qualities, leadership, race, religion, or where he eats. It's pretty rediculous, listening to these two supposedly highly educated fellas go at each other like a couple of school-yard gradeschoolers. They BOTH need to grow up! I'm tired of both of them. Neither one deserves to lead this country, or be in charge of anything. Not with their focus being on belittling each other in order to make themselves look like the better guy. It happens every election year. When will they understand that we don't want to see or hear about their feelings about each other? We don't want to hear about personal feelings. We want to hear what and how they will get the job done, and why they think they deserve to lead this country. And I wish the media would just give us the news and not give us their views on what's happening. Just report what happened and leave the viewer to come to their own conclusions. I think we're all smart enough to look at the pretty pictures and understand what we're seeing. We don't need to be told WHAT we're seeing. All this nitpicking is just making both of the candidates look like big bozos, and I'm seriously looking at any other candidate, no matter if either one of these guys are really what they say they are. I'm not sure if I can trust what they say anymore. All this nitpicking just shows them for what they really are...blamers. I guess Hitler was right...tell anyone the same lie enough, and all will eventually believe it. That goes with anything, not just this issue. I'm sure glad for remote controls...I can change the channel when I see those ads. Animal Planet sure looks like a better choice for TV now days...no political commercials! <*)))><

Im sure you have as much education as him! LOL!

Its not that easy to get into Harvard law school...

Anyway! The fact that you point out the 95% to 5% support among African Americans for Obama, shows that you have some kind of problem with it or/and that you simply dont understand the reason for the support... I dont have time to explain and I really doubt you would understand anyway...

Ill say this... Any group or minority oppressed for as long as African Americans were, is likely to support someone that shares some common ground! If you dont understand that and if you cant see that theres still socioeconomic unbalance in the US, perhaps you should revisit the institution or institutions that gave you your formal education. Concentrate on history...

Lastly... Im sure you agree with adds comparing Obama to Paris and Britney... ads blaming Obama for high gas prices and other ridiculos statements that hint that Obama canceled his planned visit to troops coz he preferred to go to the GYM!

Im sure that rhetoric dont bother you... LOL!

If you are so well educated and equipped to solve todays issues, perhaps you should run for president! LOL!

He's only saying what some people are thinking/saying about him.

Has Obama been called 'unpatriotic'? YES

Has Obama's name (especially his MIDDLE name) been criticized? YES

Has Obama's race been an issue for some people (read the exit polls where people have STATED that they WILL NOT vote for him based on his RACE)? YES

Sorry that the truth bothers you.

I too am tired of this man. The first poster is a classic example of the brainwashed mentality that the media has induced on the masses. You make a valid point about him Obama and instead of defending his words she attacks you...amazing.

A while back he gave a speech and he told his supporters to watch the Republicans because they would say something about race, so far he's the only one that has mentioned race.

He believes himself to be the Massiah. The people of the USA can not sustain the Economy and his Foreign Poilcies if Osama bin Obama is elected President. God help us if he is.

Now he wants reparations for Native Americans and Blacks.
