Is it normal for my boyfriend to punch himself in the face?

My boyfriend got so angry during an argument that he repeatedly punched himself in the face until his nose bled. Has anybody else witnessed something like this? Is this normal?

Yes, and it is definitly NOT normal. Some guys might punch the wall, a tree or their truck, and hurt their hand. I have also seen someone punch themself in the chest like a gorilla, it was very strange to me. He has a problem and needs professional help, you might want to leave him alone before he decides to take out his anger on your face next time. (the one I know of that did these behaviors was my ex, he also began to beat me, we got divorced and he od'd and died, he definitely was not normal, if only I would have paid more attention to the signs early on.)

I'd have to say it falls under the catagory of not right in the head. I can understand punching people, punching walls but masochistic behaviour is something i have never understood.. I'd say find a new boyfriend.
