Should Parents of morbidly obese children...?

Should Parents of morbidly obese children get in trouble. By trouble I mean that they get fined and possible get community service or jail time, since they are harming there child? It make sense, since children that are underweight and malnutrious get in trouble by the law. This will help America became a healthier country, forcing the parents to change their child eating habits?!

Update:

And by children I mean 0 year of age to 17 year of age!

Update 2:

Well The parents buy the food on the table, so the child has to eat what they buy. Also if the parent doesn't want the child to eat "bad food" in school, they can easily make a bag lunch for them. And it is the parents fault cause like I said before they buy and cook the food...

Update 3:

It is true that genes can make us more obese, but if a child eats a normal health diet, he wont be morbidly obese. Remember I'm talking about MORBIDLY OBESE!

Sheeesh. No. They really should convince their parents to buy healthier foods, even though some of them are too young to even know about that kinda stuff. Or too lazy. =( No need to get in trouble with the law, that's insane dude. Changing eat habits is really hard for some ppl, but it's worth it.

A lot of parents need to step up their act.

    Kids need to eat healthy.

    Exercise daily, you know?

    They'd feel good about themselves.

    But some kids just can't,

no matter how hard they try,

so they just quit and become even more obese/overweight.

But they can't really do anything about it.

And the kids with fast/really fast metabolisms

    Can't help it either

    They hate being scrawnyyyy.

Wish they could build muscle, etc.

    But when they go out

And see all the overweight kids/adults

They feel kinda lucky because they don't have to stress over that stuff.

Parents nowadays always hear about how their family should be healthy, exercise daily, etc. It's very important. Doing these things will prevent diseases and such. Wash your hands often, don't spread germs! Especially a resturants..yuckk! Just try =)

Well that's a little unfair. The parents can't help that their kids are obese the parents must be obese too. Maybe the kids should try to change their eating habits and the parents should help. It shouldn't be fined because underweight kids aren't fed. Also most underweight teens or kids [like me] have a fast metabolism which isn't bad at all.

i think it should be grounds for child protective services to take action. You are absolutely correct in that obesity is harmful. It has been linked to countless physical ailments and mental disorders. Parents should be more responsible about teaching their children proper eating and exercise habits. The problem is that most parents themselves don't know anything about health. Just look at the ridiculous questions that get posted on here.

Well, the parents aren't in total blame.

Older kids have the right to choose.

I don't think that parents with morbidly obese children sit there and force the food down the kids' throats.

I think parents who don't teach their children proper English should be fined. What the hell is "malnutrious"? Their (not "there") kids may be too lazy to exercise, but you're too lazy to open a dictionary.

  • well yes and no. some kids jus have a problem wit wieght. others dont. i mean if they go to the doctors, and there is nothin that can be shown that they have a problem where they keep gainin weight, then i can understand it. but if there is nothin that the parents nor kids can do, then no... just depends on how u look at this sistuation....

if they are really fat they should be forced into a health program and if they are so fat they cant walk and the parents are bringing them burger king they should be jailed.
