Frame rail corrosion?

I was looking at a car which i wanted to purchase but I learned that it had a rusted through on the part of the frame rail side. I was told he did alot of patching and welding to the car but has no certification or degree for doing that, which makes me alittle sketchy about the idea of purchasing it.

Anyways, I was wondering how bad it would have to be for it to be undriveable and not worth purchasing aswell as how much work it would be for me to fix it up or how much it might cost me.

Is the car a classic car that you plan on restoring? or just a daily driver. If it's a classic you can get the frame sand blasted and repaired. But their is a lot of work involved in removing the body off the frame. If you remove the body your self you might be looking at $2500 to $3500 for the sand blast and repair on the frame. And the extent of the rust damage is a huge factor for the price. If it's a daily driver forget it don't buy it.

if the frame is rusted through, stay away from that car. the frame on a car is like a foundation on a house, it.s what colds the body up.

If a car has a rusted through fame do not by it. It is not safe in an accident.
