Litter training a kitten that is new to my house?
Im getting a kitten who has been litter trained by the breader, however when she comes to my home the litter will be in a different place and will be a different litter box. How do i teach her where it now is so she can start using it as soon as she gets here.
The breeder is providing me with some of her soiled litter so hopefully that will help. Shall i put her in the box straight away?
Thanks

The first thing you should do when you get the kitten is put it directly into the litter box. Let it find its way around from there.

Yes, when you first bring the kitten into your home introduce it to the litter box straight away. Cats usually don't have a problem finding their litter because they can smell it. And if this kitten is already litter trained then there should not be any problem. Good Luck with your new fury friend!

have food water and litter box out before she gets to your house. show her where everything is. place her in litter box.
she will explore the house, and remember where every thing is.
since she is a baby, there will be accidents.
the soiled litter trick, as gross as it sounds, does help. cats go to the bathroom where they smell themselves.
it is also a good idea to put the litter box and food in your bedroom, along with a closet to hide in, for at least a few weeks. kitty will probably spend the first few weeks not going far from your bedroom and he will want to sleep with you.
then , you can move the food and litter to wherever you want.
