Uber is used a lot in slang, where it is referring to something that is particularly whatever word that follows uber.

Like someone might say that is an uber cool bag, then mean that is a really/super/etc cool bag.

It actually means over, but was taken out of context by a lot of video game players when they spoke about the screen lighting, so it has become a part of our slang language meaning super.

There are a few websites that support this.

The ultimate, above all, the best, top, something that nothing is better than.

    and / or

Term with literal meaning of "above" in German. Brought to the mainstream in the early 80's by hardcore American punk band, the Dead Kennedys when using the term in the anti-Californian government song "California Uber Alles", which is a take off the German motto of "Deustchland Uber Alles", which translates to "Germany above all." The term was picked up in their native California stomping grounds by the typical surfers and "punks" and extended from there to many teenagers, the majority of which use the term online.

    That was uber-lame.

    and / or

German for the word "above", but more commonly used on the internet for being the best, the top, the supreme, the highest of highest.

the word uber, which actually is spelt with umlauts, the little dots over the "u" that make it pronounced like if you make an o with your lips and say the "e" sound, means over or above in german. The sentence, "der Mann ist uber den Tisch," means that the boy or man is over the table. Society has made the word mean "really" or "a lot". Where they got that meaning, I have no idea, since the two are not related AT ALL. Hope that helps!

The closest English word that would be most commonly used in place of uber is very. Really, super, ultra, etc. work but very is interchangeable with uber in an English sentence. Also, I know it's not easy to do in Yahoo! or even possible, but the u should have an umlaut (two dots) above it.

The word 'uber' comes from German and it means 'over' as in 'over all' to be top of something. So for example, the top manager at your place of work might simply be called 'uber-boss' or some such slang name.

Here then is the German National Anthem - and no, it is not a Nazi song. However, it does start with the line, "Deutchland, Deutchland, uber alles - meaning to overcome all difficulties etc.

uber can mean "super" when used online. I don't believe that uber is really a word but it has been used as common slang in todays cyber language. A good time to say/type uber is when wanting to express super or really or something like that. For Example someone could say: "She's UBER pretty!" Hope this helped! :D
