Deman Characteristics: participants in an experiment change their behaiviour towards the experiment unconciously, trying to perform to the results they think they should to prove the experimenters hypothesis..
Investigator Effects: The people conducting the experiment unconciously [unintentionally] effect the results due to the procedures of the research itself, resulting in invalid research results
Single Blind Technique: single-blind procedure = procedure in which only the researcher knows which group which kind of subject is in.
Double Blind:procedure in which neither the researcher nor the subjects know which group (experimental or control) the subjects are in in order to minimize experimenter cues

Demand Characteristics is when the participant gives sociably desirable answers to conform with what is expected of them. For example, if the participant was given a questionnaire they may tick answers that would made them look good to the researcher or answers that are what it considered to be "normal" or what they think the researcher wants.
Investigator effects are things in the experiment that are caused by the researcher such as being biased towards certain participants.
The single blind technique is when the researcher knows the aim of the experiment and what is happening such as control groups but the participants do not know so that demand characteristics are less likely but investigator effects can still happen.
The double blind technique is when neither the researcher or the participant know the aim of the study and therefore demand characteristics and investigator effects are cut down upon.

Demand Characteristics- The term demand characteristics was coined by Martin T. Orne as an extension of Kurt Lewin's "field theory" of personality to the analysis of behavioral motivation in a social context. Originally applied to the ecological validity of experimental research on human behavior, the concept has become increasingly relevant to contemporary issues regarding the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders.
Investigator Effects- The investigator effect is the nullification of credible experimental results because of the promulgation of the biases of the investigator onto the methodology and testing procedures used in the experiment.
Single Blind Technique-An experimental procedure in which the experimenters but not the subjects know the makeup of the test and control groups during the actual course of the experiments.
Double Blind Technique-An experimental procedure in which neither the subjects nor the experimenters know the makeup of the test and control group during the actual course of the experiments. Also known as blind trial

The experimenter sets up the experiment, either conciously or unconciously, to get the results desired.
Something about the researcher influences the participant: they might respond differently to a black researcher or white researcher.
Something about the experiment is hidden from the participant.
Something about the experiment is hidden from both the experimenter and participant. See my profile!

The Single Blind technique is when the experimenter or the patient is unaware of the treatment the patient is receiving (one or the other).
In a double blind, neither the experiment nor the patient is aware of the treatment being receiver.
