Do stockbrokers make decent money nowadays?
I'm trying to encourage my dear husband to get a better job/career. He has a bachelors degree but has gotten comfortable with his valet job. At the age of 36, I don't think he will physically be able to do this much longer. The only profession he is even remotely interested in is stockbroker. I honestly do not know much about this profession except that you have to take the Series 7 which I heard was extremely hard! I have confidence in him, and I will always encourage him to do what he wants, but is there anyone with some advice on this type of career?

They did. But with Lehman Brothers going bankrupt and Merryl Lynch being taken over by Bank of America, there are going to be a lot of stock brokers looking for work this coming week. It may be a year before the need for new people in the field becomes apparent.

Stockbroker is a great career. You give people advise on buying or selling stock based on research that was done. You get paid a commission when you buy something or when you sell something. either way you get paid. Just continue to be honest and things will work out.

If he is a people perwon, he can do well as a stockbroker. The examination is not that difficult. The rewards can be terrific, even in a slowing economy. Low bonuses this year, though.
