How long does it take to stimulate a kitten to poop?
I have a 3 week old kitten abandoned by its mother. The mother stopped feeding the kitten milk. We have other momma cats in the yard that will usually take over the raising of the kitten, but this time none of the mother cats did. (and yes we are working to get them fixed). I took the kitten to the vet and she told me to give him the milk (kitten replacement milk) every hour for a bit and then to mix it with canned kitten food. The kitten food is watered down with the kitten replacement milk, and the kitten has eaten it today.
Problem is, I can't stimulate him into pooping. I am rubbing him in the belly and in the anus with a cotton ball dipped in warm water. But no matter what I do, I can't get him to use the bathroom.
Is there a trick to it?? Should I take him back to the vet?? Because he was skin and bones a couple of days ago, and now his belly is inflamed alot.
Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

if he hasnt pooped in a while the belly will be "poofed up". take him to the vet, get all his shots and ask you rvet about it adn see if your feedinig them the rigjht foods (if hand fed) or if theres something missing from it's diet.

Yes you definitely want to take the cat back to the vet because the colon could be damaged or the muscles that make it contract..my cat was diagnosed with this and had to be on special food because it will continue to get worse and worse and harm the cat in other ways. Hope the cat is okay!

My daughter used a warm wet wash cloth on her baby kittens. A vet told her to wash their butts with it just a couple of minutes, because you have to mimic the mother licking her babies to get them to go. Good luck!

Sounds like the poor thing could have worms. I would take it back to the vet. Hope it gets better.

only rub their bum for some circumstances a minute utilising a cotton ball, no longer a towel, via fact so you might use a clean cotton ball for each kitten. make useful the cotton ball is heat and moist such as you will desire to have performed with the towel. they might desire to poop after each and every feeding :]

if his belly is round and inflamed that probably means he has worms. you should take him to the vet.
