I broke my toe earlier today...?

I broke my baby toe earlier today. There obviously isn't any reason to go to the hospital since they basically tell ya there is nothing they can do, and they just tape it for you.

My question is, is there anything else I can do besides just taping it? Any little tricks or remedies to keep it straight and keep it from hurting so bad? LOL :) It sucks.

No, hospital likely not necessary. You can take up to 4 pills of motrin or advil if each pill is only 200mg - a prescription dose is usually 800mg so 4 pills for 3x a day would be okay to take. RICE-rest, ice, compression(bandage), elevation (also translates to not walking on it a lot) - you need to take it easy, no tight shoes, no sports, no exercising and try to stay off of it as much as possible and when you're sitting, put your foot up on a stool or other chair. Ice it 2-3 times a day for 15 min, and you can also do warm water soaks using epsom salt or just very warm (almost hot) water in a tub or pan.

Broke my little left toe a couple of months back. Just taped it. Watch the tape you use - if it's too sticky you'll peel off the skin! I put gauze between the toes before taping together - helped the pain and stopped the toes from sweating.

If possible, wear sandals - this keeps the toes dry. Took three months to heal fully.
