Bridesmaid's gifts...Give me your opinion please?

I'm trying to pick out bridesmaids gifts. I have 8 girls, ages 24-27. All but 2 are married (most w/in the past 2 yrs), and the other 2 have their own apartments. I'm trying to think outside the box and beyond makeup pouches, jewelry boxes, and wedding day pearls. I found these personalized cookbook stands, and thought doing them w/ a local cookbook, since all but 1 live at least 2 hrs away. Would do you think? I also considered doing the cookbook stand/apron or apron/cookbook combo. An apron w/ their name monogrammed to say: Jessica's Kitchen or just Jessica.

Or if you have another different idea, feel free to share. Thanks in advance. Best answer will be picked.

I think your idea is very cute especially with the local cookbook, that would make it really special. I'm giving my bridesmaids jewelry or little clutches. I hope all of your bridesmaids like to cook I'm just saying some people really hate it lol.

This website has a ton of unique bridesmaid gifts to look at to if you're interested!

I love this idea - I have enough purses that match a dress I will never wear again and jewelry that I will seldom wear again. And not that I wear an apron on a regular basis either, but it's cute & different. Plus, the local cookbook will make them think of you every time they use it.

    Great idea :)

i applaud you for thinking outside the usual gifts that bridesmaids get stuck with! i think your idea of a local cookbook, apron and a cookbook stand is great! we all have more than enough flasks, embroidered totes, makeup bags, spa bags, lotion and votives, etc.

the last wedding i was in the bride gave us cookbooks from the netherlands where she was born and raised. they are really neat and we've had some great meals from them! we didn't get a stand though - thats a great idea!

so go for it - your girls will appreciate it.

    happy wedding!

I like the idea of a cookbook stand, especially because it's different.

...However, if I got one, I wouldn't use it. I already have one, and I like mine better than the link you showed (sorry!). Maybe your girls feel the same way. Or maybe they don't have the counterspace to have one out.

For those reasons, I think I'd go with the apron/cookbook combo. Maybe you could also include a gift certificate for something cool -- even a giftcard to Kroger's or somewhere you think each girl shops would be appropriate.

    Good luck!

I bought all of my girls purses with their initials engraved on a tag on them. I ended up filling them with little bottles of lotion, votives and votive holders, a monogramed bracelet and some other goodies. They all loved them. The best gifts I got from weddings were a goodie basket filled with bath salts, body cream, ect. and a beach tote with my name engraved on it that included a beach towel.

The cookbook idea is cute if all of your girls cook, if not that may not be so great. Also you can find personalized wine glasses that are painted by hand that are cute so that may be a good idea with a small bottle of their favorite wine.

The problem is that not everyone likes to cook, and even though some might, they might not do the whole cookbook thing. You should try doing a goody bag and fill it with different things. You can actually do one of these personalized bags and fill them with mirrors, mugs or just give them the bags by itself. You can also try a personalized robe. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

I would think something like a shawl with their initials would be nice. The cookbook idea is rather nice too. If you know all of their favorite foods, you can get books for their favorite foods. Another nice thing is to get lockets that have their initials engraved in them. If you have lots of pictures of you and your bridesmaids you can have rather cheap digital picture frames that you can store those pictures on and it gives them the ability to change the photos if you'd like.

I like the cookbook idea, unless they don't cook. My husband and I personalized the gifts to the person. His brother we gave a flask, his friend we gave a limited edition of his favorite book, etc.

That's a cute idea. I'd love to receive something like that I could actually use instead of jewelry.

i made my girls garter flask holders with flasks it was totally different and can always use anytime you wear a dress
