You mean it was spreading grit on the road? There's no chance of suing someone, I'm afraid, The Highways Agency were carrying out their duty to deal with potential freezing problems. That's why gritting lorries are festooned with flashing lights, so you see them and keep clear.

If it is legal that a lorry can lose all or part of its load in England, you have no recourse.

However I think it would be the responsibility of the driver to ensure his load is safe, or safely contained.

check with the city and make sure you take pictures and make sure you have the dates and time right ...some cities might pay up need to raise hell about it though.

try some laxatives that usually clears things up and gets things flowing again
