Nice list! Love the fruits and veggies :)

You're missing eggs--great high-protein breakfast to keep you full and help with the weight loss, and you can add in so much, maybe buy some broccoli and peppers for that.

Extra virgin olive oil--great for cooking, awesome for salads, and has those EFAs everyone's looking for.

Nuts--almonds have calcium, and walnuts have EFAs, plus pecans are just plain GOOD (make sure no more than 1 serving a day cause of the (good) fat)

Whole wheat bread is a good start, but what you really need is whole grain. Whole wheat goes through most of the same processing as white bread, so it's not that much better. Check the ingredients too, just b/c a bread is "12 grain" or something doesn't mean it's made with whole grain wheat.

Spinach!--greens for salad, frozen packs for quiche

and I agree, ditch the ice berg, you're basically eating water

and for beans, I love chickpeas/garbanzo beans if you want to add that to your selection, they're fabulous in salads, even by themselves

also black beans (beans = high protein, high fiber :)

balsamic vinaigrette + extra virgin olive oil + tomatoes + garbanzo beans + peppers (yellow & red) = AMAZING

also, you can marinate tomato slices in balsamic & e.v.o.o. for a few hours/overnight and then put them on slices of toasted whole grain, maybe broil them for a few minutes...so delicious! a great side to any meal!

for weight loss, lots of fiber & protein is key. your body actually uses more calories to digest protein than it does for carbs & fat.

Ohh, and get some squash! Butternut, spaghetti, acorn--if you put some oatmeal+brown sugar+a little water or butter in the middle of half an acorn squash and cook it, mmmmm, so good!

Zucchini--great when cooked in oil over the stove, a little salt, i could eat a whole meal of it

Fish is a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which help burn fat more efficiently. Eating lots of fiber will also help you lose weight - but beware! The fiber in breads, pastas, rice, and potatoes is not the kind that will help you lose weight. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables (which your list is already full of), as well as bran - my favorite source is a cereal called Cracklin' Oat Bran, very delicious - and nuts. Be careful with nuts though, a serving is not as much as you think it is.

I've found it very helpful to plan a week's meals in advance and buy the ingredients for that ahead of time. Sites like Weight Watchers have lots of free public recipes that you can use to lose weight and plan your grocery list from.

I love mushrooms, a low fat way of cooking them is to just add water and put them in a pot, then add a little seasoning, which is 0 calorie (only a bit sodium). Mushrooms are a great addition to salads.

Honey nut cherios are also a great breakfast or snack, with 110 calories a serving and very little fat.

Salsa is low calorie, but mid sodium content. Great with fat free saltines (which are 60 calories for 5 crackers).

The only problem with these foods is they have to be eaten in moderation, but in addition to a salad or fruit its a great filler!

Oh and what kind of oatmeal do u have? I love the flavored kind, Quakers hazelnut is my favorite, if it tastes better you are more likely to eat it every morning.

In all reality, eating healthy is a good step in the right direction for losing weight, but you are also going to want to start an exercise regimen as well. You can eat all the healthy things in the world, but they aren't going to help you if you aren't putting your calories to good use.

You've got a great list. Here are a few more things you should try and add into your diet. Chicken, black beans, chickpeas, nuts, natural peanut butter, broccoli, and get yourself switched to skim milk! If you are currently drinking 2%, then switch right now to 1% for about a week. Then, switch down to skim.

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be

-Fish (if you have a market that sells fresh fish, go for it! Omega-3's are really good fats needed that reduce cholestrol)

-nuts (if you don't hve any nut allergies, these are great right before your work out)

-Asparagus(reduces appetite, eats away fatty tisse or adipose)

-Eggs (very good staple breakfast item, good protein)

Please don't eat the iceberg is you have other options. Try romaine lettuce. The key is to look for "leafy greans" and iceberg is definitely not leafy!

    Hope this helps a bit!

iceberg lettuce is not as nearly as good for you as the greens are

Green tea burns fat add that

add some nuts they work wonders!! Other than that this sounds really good and don't forget to exercise

Good luck I know you can do it and remember a min. on the lips is a life time on the hips

    I really hope this helps,

    Liv

    papaya enzymes

    acia and or noni juice

    spirulina

a really good whole foods vitamin (really needs to be whole food everymans is good)

make that cheddar extra sharp you can use less and get the same ammount of flavor

substitute that whole grain bread for sprouted grain bread

    cayenne capsules

    remove the beans

remove the veggie burgers generally full of chemicals instead make your own http://twofatals.blogspot.com/2008/03/homemade-veg...

baby spinach would be better than lettuce

would be better to remove low fat dressing and make vinegerette out of you choice of vinegar, mustard and spices

with flax seed oil (do not cook with flax seed oil)

    good luck

swap out brown rice or quinoa yes even the new super food which both add up to about 220 calories per cup for cauliflower or roasted peppers that are only about 30 calories per cup
