How long has anyone had a kitten/cat hide.?

Someone dropped off a Siamese female kitten, 6 days ago. She ran into our house while the door was open and hid. She only comes out when we are sleeping for food, etc. I always talk to her, but have never seen her since she arrived. She eats, etc. very good.

We use a flash lite to find out where she hides and when we do, she moves somewhere else in places we cannot fine her.

Don't suggest toys, treats, or anything else. We've tried it all. She's scared out of her mind. We don't have dogs.

Question: How long can kittens/cats hide? Should we just feed her and talk to her and let her be for whatever time it takes?

Help! Thank you.

Hi! My kitten did the same thing & just like you, I was concerned. To top that, she wasn't eating much at all for the first five days. It took her about two weeks to even come out. Even then , she was very skittish ! I think that they all differ & have their own "adjusment" periods. Friends of mine have had their kittens come play on the FIRST day, as if they were always a part of the family! I think your kitten is probally very scared. Do you know how old she is or what was her previous enviroment like? She will surely come out in her own time. You may want to confine her to a small area like a bathroom . Put her litter box in there & a comfy bed. You can put up a baby gate. If she is good at getting out though, that will not work. I did try that with my kitten but she would jump out. You can go in there & spend a little time with her. That may ease her into it. Rest assured that this is perfectly normal & it isn't anything you did wrong! Best of luck to you & your new addtion!

I might deliver the cat time. it's not such as you followed a kitten. This is a cat who's scared to dying at being placed into a brand new atmosphere. Not most effective are there new humans round, however there's a puppy. The deficient factor does not recognize what has happend to it. It feels love it is like Alice and has been dropped by way of a watching glass. It's international is topsy turvy. It has most effective had 3 days to check out and assimilate, that is no time in any respect. It goes to take plenty extra time than that. I might carry it the meals and muddle and allow it attempt to make that room it is residence for now. Let it pop out from below the mattress and perform a little exploring of the room. I've constantly been instructed with a brand new puppy to maintain it in a single room for awhile earlier than letting it run lose. Let it get the think of the room. Go in and check out and play with it to get your odor so it is going to companion you with meals and pal. Gradually it is going to come round and be trained that the complete condominium isn't out to get it and it is going to enterprise out slightly bit extra.. Eventually it is going to catch up with the puppy after which it is going to be fascinating to look what occurs. Don't push something, allow all of it occur on it is possess. That's the one means the cat goes to get out from below the mattress and transfer into the housel Good success.

If you know she is hiding in one room then close the door and keep her there. Eventually she will get used to that area and will come out during the day. And then you can go sit in the room with her until she's comfortable enough to come out while you're there. It might take a long time but she will adjust.

    Hope this helps.

keep leaving food out for her. she will come out when she puts together that the food is coming from you and you dont mean any harm. she needs time to adjust and get accustomed to her surroundings. she may have had bad experiences with humans and is a bit weary of others. My kittens hide under the bunk bed whenever we have company over and its loud (music, talking, whatever). and will only dash out for food and run back under the bed.

    good luck!

I had a stray we took in and she never got used to sleeping out in the open,so don't take it personal, & cats are naturally nocturnal, she's just doing her thing. I have another stray who was very abused by people we found her left in a cat carrier outside walmart, her and her brother in there so long they had soiled themselves in there. This one was extremely fearful of humans like yours but now two years later she won't budge when you step over her while she sprawled out on her back in the middle of the living room. Her brother is happy w/ my lil sis mom-in-law. Yours hasn't decided to leave you so that's a compliment in itself. Just let her adjust and when you are calm she will come up to you, eventually.

keep doing just what you are doing. Sometimes it takes awhile. Imagine how frantic you would feel if someone shoved you on a plane and tossed you into a house in a country you were unfamiliar with! Kindness however, will win. Just be patient
