In my opinion the person who know the most about Christianity is a person who has with an OPEN MIND examined the NT with a fine tooth comb, and has knowledge of the original languages that both the OT and NT were written in.

It depends on the particular people. If you compare someone who became an Christian 5 minutes ago with an life-long Atheist, the Atheist may know more.

A lot of Christians think that simply going to church makes them knowledgable. Many atheists actively study Christianity in their attempt to 'debate' with theists. My point is, neither group has probably cornered the market on knowledge of Christianity.

Well, you'd think a Priest would. However, they might willfully ignore the loopholes and flaws in the logic when an atheist might not.

That is why I like Catholics--they know that their book was never intended to be the absolute almanac on everything. They have conceded to evolution and that the Bible was never intended to be the authority on science... that gives Catholics more respect in my books.

Probably atheists. Not only are many of us very familiar with the Bible - more so than many Christians - but we also are familiar with the beliefs of different brands of Christianity and different religions.

With many of us, becoming atheist was a studied choice, not merely going along with what we were brought up to believe.

Christianity as taught by the bible is bst understood by Whoever has read and studied the bible the most (usually atheist)

Christianity as it is today in its cultural & social form is best understood by Christians, and atheist that were once christians.

i would say a Christan. you have to experience to know what it is truly like and to completely understand it.

Atheists often approach belief with a very negative and biased point of view. and for those who know something about it (rather than saying God is an imaginary friend) they still don't completely know what it is about because they only have knowledge and not wisdom and faith. =]

I think that the real heart of the matter is: why does it matter?

I know a fair amount about my religion (christianity) but I am no theologian... so it is all relative.

I think a muslim. Not many Christians know that the bible prohibits the consumption of pork.

“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch,

they are unclean to you.” [Leviticus 11:7-8]

“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud,

it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their

    dead carcass.” [Deuteronomy 14:8]
